Not to sound facetious here, but in what way does the above statement automatically equate to him being an individual who is bent and dirty?

His wife has links to Putin and as an Uzbek-born Russian national, it doesn't sound too far fetched that he may view Putin as a strong choice.

While that's not excusing Putin in any way, our Western view of him shouldn't detract from the support he has within Russia and from Russians.

I will admit that the time in prison for fraud is slightly concerning, but then again the Uzbekistan high court has since quashed the conviction.

Hes a very very rich man and Putin is an incredible strong leader who has no opposition so why wouldn't he back him.. he's not stupid.
