Usmanov

I would not want my football club to be owned by Usmanov or Abramovich if and when the hammer finally comes down. I’m not even sure Mosh is completely clear here.

I understand the sentiment. The difficulty with being opposed to Usmanov is that Moshiri is eating from the same trough. I also find it difficult to be principled about the source of money when we have a sports betting company as a sponsor, and we pay young men eye wateringly unnecessary amounts of money. In other words I am not sure where to draw the line as I suspect it’s been crossed already.

The thing is, we know that Kronke would like to buy his shares. He made a good offer to buy them last year. For some reason this Esk guy keeps beating the drum about how Usmanov wouldn't be able to sell his shares.

Ever since I joined this forum Esk has been held up like some sort of guru by many, but I've yet to see why. I've even been banned for a week from the stadium thread for questioning his insight and showing a lack of respect lol. He's no messiah lads. He's a very naughty boy.

In fairness to the Esk, the research he conducts and the documents that he produces regarding the club are good, very good. Unfair to knock him just because some of the information or 'educated guesses' that he has provided have not come off. There are lots of extenuating circumstances in the business of football that can scupper any deal, transfer, takeover, stadium plan. Trouble is much of them are attached to building our hopes up as our football club evokes a lot of emotion in all of us. So when they don't come off, its human nature to shoot the messenger. I certainly hope he is wrong about Usmanov but I think some of the articles he has produced about EFC Comms, the Board dynamic and our current position/challenges in the football world have been very good.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t necessarily disagree with him about Usmanov coming, I just don’t see how he can continue the line that Usmanov won’t be able to sell his shares when we know that Kronke has recently made him a good offer for them.

I read it as he proper hates him, probably likewise.

Oh he does.

But he's spent the last 5 years at Arsenal opposing everything Kroenke has done and basically said he was running the club into the ground. If he then decided to sell to him, it would be hugely hypocritical and Arsenal fans would go mental.

The fact Kroenke has made an offer I found interesting. It's almost like Stan knows that he could be open to disposing of his interest...

The only hopes that Usmanov has of selling his shares is
A ) This African Billionaire who has publicly stated he wants to buy Arsenal makes his first move and buys Usmanovs shares.
But it could be all rhetoric as he wouldn’t be the first African Billionaire to spout nonsense
Why buy Usmanovs shares with no seat on the board , no control etc.
B) A large investment company buys them as a long term investment and keeps them , or after a reasonable period of time sells them to Kronke at a premium and Usmanov saves face
It wasn’t me lads I didn’t sell to Kronke
C) The Chinese buy them
They are always looking for long term investments and are football mad
It would also increase Arsenal’s profile in a massive market.
I’m fairly sure Usmanov wants out but as has been said he’s painted himself into a bit of a corner because he won’t sell to Stan.
Will he come to Everton if he sells well there are more reasons why he’d come than not
His mate is here , why ??
There’s lots of money to be made on the docks and owning Everton would give him a favourable position with Peel and the council
The kudos in owning a successful PL club
And finally and perhaps most importantly
the chance to spend Big and build a more successful team than Arsenal and shove 2 fingers up to Kronke by keeping Arsenal out of the CL thus damaging Kronke’s investment
Don’t get angry get even
All pure idle speculation but there’s some plan in motion and wether it involves Usmanov or not only time will tell
