Usmanov

Usmanov and his related companies will I believe get preferential treatment from Peel on specific sites on the docks and will make money that way
The redevelopment of the docks offers endless business opportunities for those with the means to access them
If he ever decides to sell the club he will more than get his money back with a new stadium

If that's true he'll make some money but nothing huge. Peel owns the land and will sell to a developer at a value that enables that party to make a 20% profit on building something out. It's clearly though a risky business and personally not convinced about the market for flats in Liverpool. Compared to the rest of the country they are very cheap- as is the whole housing market in the area. Peel themselves will make a decent gross profit out of the site but only after many decades!

I see Navalny in the same light as [Poor language removed] Riot. Insignificant actors given huge credence in the west because they want to support those that destabilise the status quo in Russia just as those in Russia meddle in the politics of the west.

As long as the likes of Usmanov are wheeling and dealing and have a big economic impact outside the borders of Russia, as long as they keep their noses clean, no one will do a thing to hinder them and hurt their own economies especially during Covid and its hopefully soon to be aftermath.

Anyway, Moshiri owns us so meh.

How will Usamanov "make his money back on the docks"?

We are buying either freehold or a long lease BMD from Peel Holdings. Unless I've missed it we are only acquiring land for the stadium and its immediate ancillary uses. The stadium will cost whatever £250m+ and become an asset/liability for the club. Are you saying that the new stadium will help increase the value and potential of the club so that, say in 10 years, Moshiri/Usmanov can sell it for a profit? I can potentially see that but lots of risks and uncertainties. But there's no way Usmanov will make huge profits from the bricks/mortar/land at the docks in my opinion.

We are delving into theoreticals here, so that ought to be made clear. However there are lots of ways he could make substantial revenue back. He could own land around the stadium which could go up in price. He could gain significant influence in the city, and potentially other cities as a result and have a say in further building regulations.

There was a show on Netflix recently about New York and the building works /the Mafia involved. How they positioned themselves and creamed off the top.

Now I am not for one 2nd going to suggest that this is the approach of Usmanov, as I have no evidence to say as much. However, people put and launder lots of money via property developments. Most of the big developments in most of the cities you see are at least partially paid for with laundered cash and with back handers.

If you have circa 15bn "legitimately" and more that is not easily known, making money and profit in a conventional sense is only part of the game. Being kind, you want to invest in ways that gain value, and influence and also allow you to obscure where money comes from (not necessarily due to legality but also to avoid taxation).

If the Docks project kicks off, which it could well do, it will be a big plus for Liverpool as a city. The people who wer ein early with Canary wharf docks, have probably milked an awful lot of money off it, far beyond the initial investment (all of this is allegedly and hypothetically of course).

They are pathetic individuals, as you say given credence by a russophobic western media.

He is a politician with 0 MP's. We are locking Julian Assange up for exposing war crimes. Yet he isn't allowed to start dictating people lose money as a result.

He's an irrelevant figure and a failure of a man and politician this fella. His party have stood for election multiple times, lost and got nowhere. Thats not Putins fault.

Panorama ran a story saying that essentially the source of funding to that point for Moshiri was Usmanov. 3 years on and that hadnt been refuted legally. It could have been. If Moshiri felt it was untrue, he could easily issue a legal letter to have that video taken down. That he hasnt in 3 years in rather telling.
Is there any chance that episode is still available anywhere or anyone knows the title?

Do we care, really?

They’re businessmen who have legal teams who know the law way better than us.

Him not issuing a legal letter says to me “not bothered lad”.

panorama is BBC, so im afraid no credit at all, they are just anti british
Another anti BBC? Bbc is the next brexit. Farage is on the case.
It’s not not anti British. It just what the media owned by foreign nationals tell you to think, so that they can get rid of it, hold all the power and use that weight to put pressure on the politics.
Wanting foreign owned news corporations, having power over our politicians... now that is anti British.
