The law of unforeseen consequences can also apply.

The FFP rules suit the biggest and wealthiest but we have never seen or envisaged times like this. Every club is hit hard but the biggest clubs are hit hardest and their income streams have fallen more than any.
To use Everton as a comparision we take in less than 1m per game, Liverpool take in more than three and Utd take in about four.
The sale of merchandising will have been affected , an income stream where the big clubs really bring in a lot of income compared to Everton and other clubs.
I saw recently that the Liverpool payroll was about double the Everton payroll and that would be an average for most of the top four clubs and as you say that is manageable and well within FFP rules when you have an income but when you don't then you have a real problem.

There is money leaking out of football at an alarming rate and really at present there is no end in sight for that , whenever this is finally over I think we may see huge changes in football , but goodness knows what they will be.
THe biggest clubs might very well be hit with a higher figure financially but the lower divisions could be slaughtered by this ,with many more going to the wall .

I've said it a while ago and still believe it, football in general will be in no position after this to turn down investment no matter where it comes from. The fair play rules as we know them are finished and depending on the City investigation possibly abolished. Then uncle uzzy will come in and start spending like a madman.

UEFA dont gain any money from clubs investing money.

People keep saying they will want money in the game, but its not true.

FFP aint going anywhere.

It will be intresting to see how the bigger clubs manage.
Read yesterday that United have drawn down £120m from their credit reserve and Spurs have taken a similar size loan from the bank of England.
Might be for transfers, but also might be just to meet costs. If that is just for costs then who says they wont need more and then it needs paying back. Spurs especially could have issues if this state of affairs continue.

It won't be for transfers. It's working capital to keep the clubs running.

It’ll look great parked up next to our new stadium......expect the players will be looking for an invite at some point....

It happens all the time. It is the whole point of a revolving credit facility. Football is cyclical, you have massive expenditure during transfer windows and then you have massive income spikes when the TV money and sponsorship money comes in. In between you have fixed expenditure principly salaries.

Clubs are taking a massive hit because the TV money has been withheld but salaries still need to be paid.

However Clubs are used to that they have no income during the close season but still pay salaries. They do that because they know the income is incoming.
