upcoming films

Dunno if it's already been mentioned, but I eagerly await the release of "I, Daniel Blake" in October. Can't remember a Ken Loach film I haven't liked.

A Palme D'or winner at Cannes, about the shameful and banal bureaucracy surrounding the welfare system. Has been mentioned as possibly as much a governmental wake-up call to social issues as 'Cathy come home' was in the late 1960's.

I certainly hope it has a similar effect.
Ken Loach documentary and Cathy Comes Home on next weekend.

Where anyone can vote and it hasn't been released yet.

Nah read the reviews on there mate. People seen early viewings. (Which I bloody missed out on by an actual inch).

But don't read if you don't want spoilers.

It sounds like it's too 'fun' for some people and not serious enough. And like its a set up movie for those that will follow.

All of which is fine with me.

It's 48 on Metacritic from 21 reviews. I'll still go and see it but that would suggest it is a bit of a mess.

4/5 in Empire.

As I said above it depends what you want from it I reckon.

If you want gritty Batman Begins style you won't get what you want. If you want a fun movie then you will.

The main criticism I've seen is just that it's a mess rather than being too funny.
