4/5 in Empire.

As I said above it depends what you want from it I reckon.

If you want gritty Batman Begins style you won't get what you want. If you want a fun movie then you will.

I don't think that's the reason for the negative reviews; it clearly looks like it's going for the more fun route than BvS, etc based on the trailers and posters. And to expect otherwise and then complain about it doesn't make much sense.

Read a bit of a negative review that said that for the first half it's excellent, but 2nd half is terrible and a bit generic.

Was quite excited to hear about the movie they're doing about Operation Anthropoid, but from the trailer it looks utterly horrendous. God only knows what accents those are supposed to be. Sadly I suspect it to be a typical Hollywood mangling of history. For a start, it looks like Benes is placed in Prague rather than London, where Gabcik and Kubis were trained before being parachuted into Czech for the mission. Hmm. It also had very little to do with actual resistance, with Benes knowing full well that the assassination would provoke a brutal response, thus winning 'hearts and minds' amongst the Allies. It was martyrdom, not resistance.

Compare that to the wonderful HBO telling of Jan Palach and the Prague Spring and it's really a different league altogether.

obviously make your own mind up and enjoy what you want, but on that note empire is no measuring tool, they probably gave scary movie 4 at least 3 out of 5

I'm a diplomat mate ;)

Reminds me of another Czech movie though called Protektor. They would periodically cut away to the two protagonists riding bikes, ala

Good movie though, and I suspect it covers that era under the Protectorate much better than the Hollywood film will do.

i thought the first half was absolutely terrible. all over the place, very poorly edited. felt like a bunch of trailers stuck together. once they actually got onto the action takin down the villain it wasnt so bad, and ending was fine

for me it wasn't fun at all, the attempts at humour felt forced and fell flat (didnt hear one laugh all film). it was all over the place tonally, plot, editing. probably a decent film in all the footage they shot, but they didnt put it out as one cohesive film.
