I loved Unsworth but the idea that he wasn't absolutely slated by some of our fans is ridiculous.

The "lady" that sat behind me on the Park End circa 2004 used to shout "**** off Unsworth" pretty much every time he played one of his famous raking passes to nobody.

I remember shouting at people to shut the **** up in the Paddock for giving him **** from the first minute. Some people take a dislike to certain players then never see their favourites playing badly, kinda like the match thread every week.

I always liked Unsworth.
Reliable.

He did get caught drink driving in my road like, but he had issues at the time.. Im sure he's made up to be back in the Royal Blue.

Great article that- you can see why he has got the job. If he brings the same levels of commitment and passion to his coaching as he did as a player then he will do well. Good to see someone with a previous relationship with the club come in too rather than someone else from RM's coaching team at Wigan. A balance is needed.

Just a thought but perhaps he is doing this to appease Blue Bill? I have no issues with The Rhino being on the staff.

I absolutely loved Rhino when he was with us. You really felt that he cared more than it just being a pay cheque.

Thinking about Unsworth just now got me to consider Tim Cahill in a different light. Maybe it's an age thing (me being mid 30s) but whilst I always appreciated Cahill as an effective player who gave his all for us I never elevated him to the status of an Everton legend as I often see him described on here.

Unsworth for me was at one time arguably the top left back in the league and potentially I could make a case for him playing in the 85 team whereas for me Tim Cahill would never get close.

Anyway great to see him back and hopefully he, Stubbs and Duncan will progress up the ranks within the club before too long.
