Unai Emery

If we did approach him last time and came back in, I think that would be in our favour with his people.

Not saying there is any real prospect of him coming here, but he isn’t going to get an “elite” club job and having already managed Sevilla and Valencia, I can’t see many opportunities for him back home.

It depends what he is looking for really but the perception is that he would be on a downward spiral after leaving PSG. He may be interested in going back to being a big fish in a smaller pond with the chance to implement his vision and ways of doing things from the bottom up.

He was my first choice after Martinez but a lot of water under the bridge since then. I can see him taking an international job as there is always a big shake-up after a major tournament.

With managers I always put it down to one factor if it's possible he's coming here.

Would we be buzzing that he would come? -If the answer is yes then he won't be coming.

3 Europa Leagues in a row is a mental achievement

This fella would be my choice out of the unrealistic ones, but if not defo Fonseca

Fonseca is a weird shout for everyone to be so excited about. He’s got a crazy record of spending one season at a club and then bouncing to the next. Even Shakhtar he’s only been there two seasons now. He’s done well but it’s a two team league. Might be good, might be crap. I’d rather Emery as you said.

He's young, he's ambitious, he has a clear style of play, he improves players under his coaching/management, he has taken a team and improved it, he did exceptionally well in the CL this season - getting through a group with City and Napoli in it, and lost unluckily to a Roma side that is now in the CL Semi final. Throw in that he knocked Kiev off their perch for two seasons running now all whilst effectively having no home advantage in Europe or the league due to whats happening in Donetsk.

Throw in he plays a attractive style of football BUT without the massive flaws that some attacking managers have (Martinez, Howe and others).

There is nothing much to dislike about him and very much to actually excite.

That all sounds great. I’m worried he hasn’t actually had to show he can build a team up. I’m also worried he’ll jump ship first chance he gets as he’s a bit of a nomad managerially.

A lot of people seemed to think similarly about Vitor Pererria. Idk if Fonseca is actually similar to him or not. Just think Emery might be a better choice atm. We won’t get either though sadly.

He does sound a great candidate...for a much bigger club than us.But stranger things have happened.

Why do people always make out Vitor was a dodged bullet.

Since we decided against him he went on to
Win the double in the Greek league
Manage Fenerbache (38 wins, 15 draws, 9 defeats)
Currently manager of Shanghai SIPG (10 wins, 2 draws in 12 games) manager of Hulk and top of league and earning a gazillion £ a year.
