Unai Emery

Arteta and Enrique wanted assurances over the transfer policy, ins and out. Emery seems happy with the fat wedge on offer

It's a smart choice for Arsenal on the one hand since he is sure to raise the intensity of the squad which has flattered to deceive for a while. However, Unai himself is leveraging his abilities in a high profile job despite a club managed like a corporation that is in no rush to spend. Especially since he made it clear he wanted European football but it's true that he is unlikely to find a club with the talent level of Arsenal that should be competing in Europe soon enough

I think it'll be interesting there. Players like Wilshere and Bellerin will have to up their game or sit indefinitely

Can't speak English though o_O
Not a problem, there are hardly any English players at Arsenal.

At least we know now why we were not after him, he was getting the Arsenal job all the time. Arteta and the others mentioned were just window dressing to make it look like there was an extensive search.

Emery went a whole league season without an away win at a team who were a heck of a lot better than we are.

Considering our away performances over the last 25 years, I'm not quite sure he was a good fit.

I think Arsenal have got completely the wrong fit for themselves too for what it's worth.
He will fit in well at Arsenal so with their poor away record this season.
I stand to be corrected here but I think we were the last team they beat in the league away from home

Another one bites the dust.........

So Tuchel and Emery are done,Allegri my choice still isn't confirmed at Juve yet.

Come on Farhad get it done.

Simply do not get the Moyes bashing.
Did far better than any of his successors with no financial backing.
Please name any manager with our budget at that time that did better at other clubs.
There are none. End of !

I agree. Moyes had some great teams, and he left in 2013 to pursue what was popularly regarded as a step up from Everton. There's this floating narrative of those teams playing an ugly game that also feels quite revisionist to me. Not what I remember from the likes of Pineaar, Arteta, Baines, Donovan, etc.

But should Moyes return, would he replicate those results? I feel he isn't the same manager as before.

I like Arteta precisely because he represents some continuity with the Moyes years, without the baggage Moyes has now after five years of mediocrity to failure. He also has the apparent potential to be an elite coach, whereas Silva and others clearly will never be.

Arteta to me is pretty obviously the best candidate for Everton right now. We desperately need to tap into whatever institutional memory is still there before we get hollowed out by more of what we've seen since 2013.
