Perspective of a pro-Russian guy from one of the breakaway republics. He was a key figure in establishing them in 2014 and is ex-FSB.

Ever since the start of this supposedly huge offensive in the East (last Monday i think), there is not a lot of footage coming from either side. Quite opposite than previous battles around Kyiv and from the start of the war, when Ukrainians were releasing tons of videos.

But from what i'm reading, brutal battles are going there in the moment with Russians trying to break through prepared defenses.

Yeah, when I read that I just couldn’t understand Russia‘s motive. They may well be saying we don’t care about the UN and we do our own thing , but it won’t play well with the rest of the world and nor with China. Putin is shooting himself in the foot, and there is now a growing consensus and confidence that Russia needs to be completely pushed out of Ukraine …..they could now even lose the Crimea…..

What do bullies do? They puff their chest, scream, shout and throw digs to try and kid themselves that they're powerful and important.

While it'll intimidate some, I can't see Ukraine, UN, Nato, US, UK or whoever backing down now, let alone with this. As you say, China will be observing.

I can't see Russia backing down.

If it goes to world war 3 then so be it as far as Russia is concerned.

NATO has bullied and continue to bully as well as meddle and cause trouble around the world. As far as Russia is concerned.. Ukraine being trained and armed to attack Russia was the final straw.
