Quite simply because you have to draw the line somewhere, if NATO doesn't stand up to its agreement then the whole thing collapses and Russia could roll into any country.

Given the losses fighting a country that do not necessarily have the latest military equipment equipment I don't see why they would though...
Exactly, if Russia invaded the Baltics (very unlikely they could even if they wanted to as they are clearly struggling in Ukraine), USA and NATO would absolutely HAVE to act, the alternative is NATO is finished, and Russia have free reign in Eastern Europe. If he wanted to invade a NATO state (I don’t think he would), Putin is finished, there would be a coup in Moscow, the enablers working for him are rats, but they wouldn’t stand by to see a clearly suicidal move like that.

But Ukrainian people deserve to live in peace as much as any others. And if they choose to join Nato, or independence, or to go to bed with Russian, that must be a matter for them. not Russia. If the Russians are given a free reign in Ukraine, it is such a dangerous precedent.

Don’t think anyone would disagree with that.

This is a thread about Ukraine mate, and the atrocities that Russia are committing there. ?
And agree they are atrocities. Being saying it from the start.

Is this the only place you act out against war atrocities? Cause I've a few in the ca.

The problem with this is that whilst in theory it is true, the crisis has shown that peace in Ukraine is required for it to produce food that feeds a lot of countries.

I agree they shouldn't be dominated by Russia (since that just means there is even more risk to food supply) but if the option is there for true neutrality, where the world guarantees Ukraine's security as a non-aligned nation, then that option needs to be taken. I think the overwhelming majority of countries (EU and worldwide) would accept that, and of course the alternatives do not bear thinking about.

We were talking before about how the land will become even more of a mud bath when the ice begins to completely thaw and and the fields resemble a quagmire.

If the Russians do not make major advances soon, it could be April before they're able to even attempt to use the open ground. This isn't going to be a quick war.

Russian Ambassador to Ireland not happy.
Daft thing to do but the irony of the statement…
The Russian embassy condemned what it described as "a criminal act of insanity directed against a peaceful diplomatic mission"

Agreed and given the sanctions they've received invading a country who isn't part of NATO or the EU he would be well aware of the consequences. To me he leaves well alone now, the only slight possibility is if the sanctions bite so hard he goes for the Hail Mary of trying to break out of them that way, he would be quickly put down by NATO or someone inside his own regime though.
