I agree with most of this. Wouldn't want to dispute it. But the elephant in the room is that their unequal relationship, propping up Putin and exerting some influence (I've no idea how much tbh) doesn't deter Putin from his pursuit of continuing power and what I do beieve, what he sees as almost the divine right of Russia - hegemon in east and central Europe.

Good man yourself! Nice to find someone who argues his / her point without invective.
Luckily Putin is of an age that by the time Russia could realistically rebuild and rearm he won't be around. Hopefully by then whoever takes over power is less of a psychopath.

Putin isn't in charge he's just a mouthpiece for those faceless individuals who are actually running things in Russia and the next president will be the same. Now where is my tinfoil hat.

@tantavisiteler: Ukraine falls and Europe has a major problem. Europe needs to step up purposefully, not only because it's right to do so but also because no-one needs Russians gradually dominating the democracies.
Come on it's been over 2 years and Russia are still within 150 miles of their own boarder at the cost of hundreds of thousands of men and piles of equipment, if there was a soldier on the front he could drive to Russia for dinner and be back on the front for bed time.. and this is facing Ukraine who have no modern aircraft no modern navy no long range missiles untill now. In my opinion things are playing out exactly how the west would want, Russia will eventually get enough of Ukraine that they can call it a win but it will come at such a cost of men and equipment that they won't be able to attempt another invasion of another country for a century.

They may not want / need to invade another country. Who can say?

Russia has managed to half strangle the European economy without firing a rocket at Brussells. Their influence in furthering reactionary parties & popular feeling is unknowable but is said by serious commentators to be widespread and effective.

Where Ivan chooses to dine is not of the same importance now as it was in years gone by. For all the materiel and manpower expenedd by Moscow, the West too has suffered - hence the current munitions crrisis.

*** I'll have to come back to this. I've got food to prepare *** Sorry!

That's something we'll never know. But whoever it is they are and will remain reliant on China for the foreseeable.

Regardless of your consistent pro Russia stance, what are you saying with this comment?
Show me one pro Russian post, just one. I've constantly said that Ukraine could not and will now expell Russia from Crimea or now the Donbass. That's just by reading the media from both sides. It's well over a year since the leaked US military intelligence papers stated that the best Ukrainian could get would have been a stalemate at the position of the front lines then and since then their position has worsened considerably. So obviously you feel you know more than the top military experts. How you believe that because I think they are correct then that by default makes me pro Russian is bizzare...but then that's no surprise to me. Anyway why waste time here while there's footage of death and destruction for you to be enjoying.🙄

One question I asked but no answer.

But your right, Putin needs to stop this senseless conscription and sending hundreds of thousands of young Russian men to be killed and have limbs blown off in a foreign land. Its clear that this is the general thrust of your posts.

So still no quote of even one pro-Russian post I've ever made and obviously it's clear you don't care about the thousands of young and now some middle aged Ukrainian men dying (growing daily as the defence of Chasov Yar has just begun) Still there'll be lots more war porn to keep you happy...
