Russia in 2014 Kicked this off properly however, their forcibly changing the populace of the contested areas previously create the Ukrainian actions.
However you look at it, Ukraine we’re forced into action or lose their lands.

You cack the Palestinians for defending themselves but blame the ukes…. Selective !

As @ramacca has highlighted many times over, the economic benefits for the US are enormous as their agri-business speculators seek control of the bread basket of the world. And the threat to the German economy is real too. The Yanks wanted that energy tie-up between the Germans and Russians smashed and this conflict presented the opportunity to do so. The blowing up of the Nord Stream pipeline was a US job. The want the EU looking to them not east for economic growth/dependency.

The great con is almost over though. Russia will sacrifice many more hundreds of thousands of men if need be but they won't be defeated in Ukraine. The Yanks are accepting that now it looks to me.

They're different conflicts with different balance of forces and different objectives.
 
Take your pick of the Nazi problem in Ukraine in 2014 and after. Their Russaphobia ideology wants to eliminate all things Russian.

They set about changing street names, building names etc.to name them after Bandera and his followers. Discriminating against Russian speakers. Took up arms and waged war against those in the Donbass that is a civil war. They spent years and years bombing the Donbass and killing people.

These Nazi's were exposed, but when the US Empire decided it needed a proxy war against Russia, them same Nazi's were,/are the darlings for some in the west. Russia intervened in the Ukraine civil war, only after the Nazi controlled government built up a large military to attack Donbass and to wipe them off the face of the earth. Echoes of what the Zionists are doing in occupied Palestine.

Any side the US Empire backs is the wrong side to support. They do things that suit them and sod the rest of the world. They've spent 95% of their existence involved in some sort of thing warfare. War is in their DNA. Defeat for the US Empire anywhere is to be welcomed. It gives a boost to the anti colonial, anti imperialist forces in the world. As did it's defeat in Vietnam in the 1970s. It's losing this war in Ukraine, and that has played a major role in inspiring the anti colonial outbreaks in Africa. Similarly, the humiliating defeats in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan has emboldened the anti colonial movement against apartheid Palestine.

Zelensky stood on a platform for peace with the Donbass. He approached the right wing Nazi lot and told them they'd have to lay down their arms. They told him to sod off and watch his back. The fascists run the show in Ukraine but they're getting beaten and this is causing splits and recriminations. The west has bigger fish to fry and are ditching Zelensky as they ditched Afghanistan.

Look at any anti colonial movement in Africa at the moment. There are Russian flags ever present. Their leaders go to Moscow, and China, because they know they are fighting the same enemy. Who does the resistance forces in the middle east conflag with work with and fight alongside? It's not the US Empire that's for sure. Because the US is too busy bombing them, killing them, hitting hospitals, assassinating civilians etc. in Iraq, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan. Or are arming to the teeth their proxies to wage war against Yemen and the Palestinians.

The US Empire, the colonial French, the vassal states Germany and the UK are on the wrong side of history. As movements in the forefront of struggle are showing.

Their leaders go to Russia and China because they are being bought off. If you think it’s to do with some political stance you are naive in the extreme…..
