I agree. This is where the Belt and Road initiative bears fruit.

We better get used to multiple spheres of influence.

The behaviour of the rest of the Brics outside Russia and China during this war have underlined that Washington can't call all the shots anymore.
 
The only reason for the US billions to Kiev was the intention, combined with significant economic sanctions, to damage Russia so much that it would be brought to the brink of collapse, the leadership would lose popular support and US puppets take power in the Kremlin. We owe today's mountains of corpses to these childishly stupid ideas about Russia, which are essentially favored by Blinken and his friends.

Everything the yanks do has to be seen through the prism of how it will degrade China's power and influence.

I think you're right that they believed this was a massive opportunity to finally deal with Russia and isolate China...a byproduct of that would be to shatter India's relationship with Russia for them to step into the vacuum and benefit.

At this point in time it looks to have been a huge miscalculation. I think the Republicans and some Democrats see that and want to cut and run from the war.

The republicans will take the blame for cutting the funding

Some - including me - thought that a rethink politically in the US was dependent on a Trump election win. I dont think that's the case now.
