I picked up the daily star the other day the day after the Russians had invaded expecting to see a headline about Ukraine.No chance , the star led with a story of outrage about people preferring marmalade on there bacon butties rather than ketchup or brown sauce.

Putin will not have been stupid enough to seriously think he would get popular support from the populace.

His best hope is actually long term occupation but it’s the most difficult to accomplish

think the lot that are 50km back are the main body, these are advanced troops

as for regime change, they are probably hoping that lot run off because (you'd hope) even they would not want any kind of show trial or martyrs
