The problem is you are sacrificing too many men just to hold the line. Because the west for whatever reason will not give up. It’s a poor trade imo.

If the west give up on Ukraine then war will continue in former Soviet states for many many years, I'm 41 I reckon that I'd never see meaningful long term peace in that area in my lifetime if what you suggest happens.. Ukraine look like they'll be getting F16s mid next year, Russia will become serious about negotiations then.
