Best way for him would be elimination of Prigozhin (Wagner is nothing without him) and then offering amnesty to rank and file.
He doesn't need full shooting war in the country, it would be worst case scenario (for Putin)
Russian authorities just made the amnesty offer publicly. Good call.

Ugly thought, but they surely want Vladivostok back. Long-term bone of contention that they finally settled formally. Doesn't mean they won't go grab it, if they sense weakness.

Numbers are one of those things that matter more on paper than they do in practice, with the number of troops under arms. Twenty-five thousand battle-hardened veterans are worth a lot more than the same number of green recruits, poorly-trained reservists and converted police. The score at Agincourt was something like ten-to-one or better in favor of the English.

Then there's the most elite of the world's special forces, who can stroll into a command post, kill everyone there and stroll out whistling a tune without a scratch on them. It's important to compare both how many, and who, when assessing capabilities.
So the airforce don't count? Chechens might come into play too. But hey you're the military expert.

The air force looks like Putin's most valuable asset, right now. The problem is it's not possible to hold dirt with one. The big question, as I look at photos, is why Putin is showing next to nothing in Moscow. Either @PhilM is correct in his suspicions that Russia has been totally stripped to prosecute the war in Ukraine, or Putin is up to something. The travel restrictions in an odd spot hint at what he might be up to.

The Chechens are completely out of position. Prigozhin is sitting in the way, in Rostov. They can cause him problems there, or run up through Volgograd towards Moscow, but they'll arrive way late to the party. They are probably one reason he kept more than a token force in Rostov, with securing the supplies in Rostov being the other.

You mentioned Prigozhin's cashflow problem earlier. Looks like the Russians seized a little under $50 million US, from one of his offices in St. Petersburg, and that he publicly acknowledged the seizure. That was sloppy of him, though I suppose it hardly matters if he's all-in and expects to take it back.

"Message from the press service of the President of the Republic of Belarus.

This morning Russian President Vladimir Putin briefed his Belarusian counterpart on
situation in the south of Russia with the private military company Wagner. The heads of state agreed joint actions. As a follow-up to the agreements, the President of Belarus, having further clarified on the available
own channels of the situation, in agreement with the President of Russia held talks with
head of PMC Wagner Evgeny Prigozhin.

Negotiations continued throughout the day. As a result, agreements were reached on
inadmissibility of unleashing a bloody massacre on the territory of Russia. Yevgeny Prigozhin accepted proposal of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to stop the movement of armed persons Wagner company in Russia and further steps to de-escalate tensions.

At the moment, there is an absolutely profitable and acceptable option for solving the situation on the table, with
security guarantees for PMC Wagner fighters.

As previously reported, the President of Belarus also held two
meetings with the power bloc of the country on this situation."

Oh well, was funny while it lasted

He'd be a dead man, so doesn't make much sense.
