Yep, my brother and my brother in law are both flight line mechanics at the base and work on the jets daily … I’m told they’re affectionately known as FLEMIS
Who has the contract there now? I was stationed there just as they started to transition the civilian staff in.

Blimey, I think it was them from the start.

Fair play to them for keeping hold of it for 25 years.
Lot of local lads done really well off that base, the company have contracts out in Saudi so a few mates of mine have been out there a few years earning top money with no tax to pay…. Obviously it’s a sacrifice leaving home but it’s set some of them up really well.

Very similar path to what I followed, but I moved over to the UAE whilst still in the RAF. I was 'loaned' and just changed uniforms to be part of a training team.

Ended up staying here when my service was up.

Is this Col. Douglas Macgregor (ret) a crank or does he actually have genuine info?
Keep reading stuff from him that seems very much against the common narrative (in the west), latest one being Patriots can’t shoot down Khinzal missiles and the Russian are destroying the latest tanks, long range missile (storm shadow) and other western equipment before it even gets near to the front lines / being used.

He’s a trump fan-boy. File away under fruit-loop

Russia Becoming A Vassal Of China Amid Ukraine War: Macron

BARRON'S NEWSLETTERS

Russia has "already lost geopolitically" its war in Ukraine war and is effectively becoming a vassal state of China, French President Emmanuel Macron said in an interview published Sunday.

"De facto, it has entered a form of subservience with regards to China and has lost its access to the Baltic, which was critical, because it prompted the decision by Sweden and Finland to join NATO," Macron told the Opinion newspaper.

"This was unthinkable just two years ago. So it's already a geopolitical defeat," Macron said ahead of a visit to Paris by Ukraine's President Volodoymyr Zelensky later Sunday.

"Let's be clear, Russia must not win this war militarily. So it's up to us to see how to help the Ukrainians with their counter-offensive, and how to prepare the issue of security guarantees in the negotiations that will inevitably take place," he said.

"I've always said that in the end, Europe's security architecture will have to fully defend Ukraine. But it must also envisage non-confrontation with Russia and rebuild a sustainable balance of forces," he continued.

"But there are still many steps that must be taken before we get to that," he said.
