Ukraine war: Drone attack on Russian bomber base leaves three dead

Moscow says three service personnel died in a new drone attack on the base at Engels.

While it’ll sadly elicit a response from Russia, such attacks will be a big boost to Ukrainian moral and the opposite for their opponents.

It will, also, mean precious resources may be maintained way within Russian territory to try to stop such attacks occurring, which aids Ukraine.

The bank aspect will be an interesting as a run on the banks could signify that the sanctions, alongside the cost of the war, is truly impacting on their economy.

Yet, there hasn't been much talk of it and the evidence seems isolated. A video showing a few closed banks or a technical fault can easily be misinterpreted*.

*I'm being diplomatic there.

I was told approximately a week ago that Russia was looking to purchase shells all around the world due to shortages, but the west is often buying them up too.

Ukraine still has a fair bit of Soviet era artillery, so they would make use of it. Yet when the barrels need replacing, the UA will continue to shift to NATO standard. `

Still, less ammo for Russia is good for Ukraine.

I may be wrong, but I guess it’ll be associated with Prussia and the War of Austrian Succession, where we fought against the Prussians.

Could be wrong, however.

This, or the Hanover Expedition, which involved Prussia again. I honestly can't think of a time British troops have, in aggression, stood on Polish soil.

So, I suspect it's linked to that in a tenuous way.

He does appear to be mocking Medvedev.

Every time I see Medvedev I think of Stewart Lee's sketch about how contemptible Richard Hammond is and that if you change out Clarkson for Putin it'd be about Medvedev.

The russian military couldn't punch through a paper bag. They've completely destroyed any illusion of them being a threat to anyone and the west will go in hard on them in any future negotiations for decades to come.

So, a fairly quiet year then?

Interesting that he doesn't mention his own country in any predictions. Is that because they'll continue to be a complete non-entity in 2023 or because he doesn't see "getting your arse kicked by a smaller nation on your own doorstep" as noteworthy?
