Russia was in a shaky state way before that. They had civil unrest that could've gone into a civil war between the people and the army (shocker, history repeating itself) about 4 times in the last 7 years.

How someone who's been there doesn't see what they were doing is well beyond me though. He's either lying or is very, very stupid and gullible and takes everything being told to him very seriously.

And when talking about western forces 'our' media does no different. It's the same as slagging the Russians off for having nuclear warheads when we're littered with them. Neither are right and both are wrong.

Mate, as a neutral Irish pacifist I agree. However if my country was invaded again I would take up arms even if I only lasted a few minutes.

This is about economics and I just pray that not many innocent civilians suffer as the powerful move their chess pieces around.

I agree that they have pressing problems in certain areas that require no quarter. However, Zelenskyy's single most pressing problem is keeping the spirits of his people up. If he loses that, Ukraine is finished and he may be buried alongside her.

The reports could equally be faked - I'm not dismissing that. Keeping in mind that he's a comedian, and therefore by definition a successful media personality, I'm also not willing to dismiss the notion that he's taking steps to keep his audience. His perimeter units may have orders to capture, rather than kill, scouts wherever possible for dual purposes. One, trot them out. Two, figure out what their orders were in order to try to figure out Putin's next moves.

If true then it means that Russia has lost an entire VDV/Spetsnaz unit and it’s a massive morale booster for Ukraine.

I find it strange that Putin gambled on this and failed to back up his elite airborne troops with armour, kinda reminds me of the British paras at Arnhem.

Putin is not a military genius and I'm not really sure why people even pretend he's close to that.

Lowkey afraid, and that's a long shot I feel, for another reason - justification of excessive use of force because he keeps losing special forces at a certain point.

Like if he keeps losing spetsnaz there, at what point does he go "just level it, it's justifiable"?

It's not. No sane person would want their children to go to war, and most people themselves would rather not be involved in active combat.

That's not criticising being in the forces by the way - far from it. Yet sadly, there still appears the need for young men and women to enlist, stand and fight.

Fortunately, we as a nation have a known ability to produce soldiers of calibre who, in times of peace, will do the job and put their lives on the line and even die.

I always think about the start of Metallica's One, where it says, "For democracy, any man will give his only begotten son." There's many Ukranians doing that now.

Even worse, there'll always be the small minority who take pleasure from war and destruction.

Yesterday they casually announced that nato had 110 ships heading towards the region.
Various plant pots giving supposed opinions from all over the world , that surprisingly all paint Russia in a good light, the west, USA, or nazi's to blame for everything.
Nato supposed to be in awe of the Russian might.
It's pretty good viewing for the bullshit content.
NATO forces being on any scale outside of nuclear weapons is far and away bigger seems to have slipped there attention.
