Father in law does it all the time, pickled tomatoes, pickled cucumbers, leche (tomato and red peppers) all jarred and given to us all the time same with Jam and spoke puree, basically think it's a leftover from making maximum use out if everything you grow or buy at huge savings for the season but won't store well without canning/bottling.

Saying that I'm getting revenge this year as I've pickled shedloads of beetroot just to annoy him by giving him some every few weeks, did eggs too :) as neither are done here ever
I've brained the game here, recently - my fiance's parents give us jarred foods they've made, while I give them some that my grandparents have made lol

The circle of pickled/jarred foods essentially.

The moment we get a house with a yard the exact same thing is happening btw, I've planned ahead.

I started giving them to some students ?

Hi mate, should Ireland should accept their lands being occupied, please?

I take it from your question that you think Ireland should not have accepted their lands being occupied by the British. And I take it, that like Ukraine they were right to take up arms and repel such an invasion, including attacking the occupier i.e Britain in their land, like the Ukrainians have done on Russian soil.

I take it, the same applies to occupied Palestine?, i.e the indigenous people should have their land back from the occupiers. I also take it that the Rock of Gibraltar should be return forthwith to Spain.?

Further back in time, I also take it that this applies to America, when the Europeans went over to the Americas and occupied Native American land from top to the bottom of the continent?

Or the Aborigines should take their lands back from all the settlers who came over and settled on it?

I also take it that any country has the right to reclaim its historic lands? Say Poland or Russia or Germany or Spain, Egypt etc.

I deffo can't be arsed with growing veg, but within a week of buying our place with a garden I had 3 chickens. The idea was to let them roam the garden but they destroy everything much quicker than I thought. So i ended up doing a days work to build a fence. Now they work for me, their wise, benevolent egg loving overlord.

Hi mate,

My take on it all is that we'd all be so much happier as a species if we started clubbing one another for territory. For example, I like my neighbours garden. *reaches for club*.

Nation states are just a logical extension of this impulse. Everyone should just let loose. I can see where Vlad is coming from here, like.

FWIW Gibraltar is an interesting example because we (the UK) have ruled it for quite a bit longer than the Spanish have (318 years vs 241 years), with a clearer legal basis to it (the support of the population plus it being ceded by a treaty in exchange for something else, compared to the Spanish just seizing it from the Muslims).

Who has said that?

The Russian army is badly understaffed and underarmed, to the point that they're conscripting 60+ year olds - that's something the Russians themselves have shown. Those people won't be the most adequately trained, sure, but they're still armed men.

Who's saying the rest of it?
Some will be receiving some basic training, but I sincerely doubt these men are receiving any semblance of infantry training - learning how to actually fight.

There's Ukrainian soldiers here in the UK who are receiving a slim downed version of ITC; while not perfect, it'll prepare them far more than the Russians.

While western supplied hardware is receiving lots of plaudits, I have a feeling that the level of infantry training is playing a huge role in the Ukrainian success.

Tactically, they've been great too!

Conscription for basic infantry training is mandatory in Russia currently. They've shortened the length of the course, but it's still a thing.

Older generation (those recruited at 50+ currently) would've had 2 years duty in the army as conscripts.

The hardware is keeping the Russian armor from eating Ukrainian infantry alive, and then they're winning the infantry battle on training, is how I look at it.
