And yet posters on this thread carry on insisting that the US had no part in this, and the fact that Turkey brokered a deal were Ukraine ceded a level of autonomy to the Donbass and promised not to join Nato but Zelensky withdrew after pressure from the US and UK they will completely ignore.?

The US particularly does not support the seizure of territory by armed force, in part because it has other security commitments in other parts of the world.

If I were Zelenskyy and I were handed a relatively blank check in the furtherance of that aim, I would also fight. You're saying that Russia should be permitted to stake claims to territory which de jure does not belong to it, and which it has made treaty arrangements renouncing, because it has taken de facto possession of the territory for a while. That's a recipe for normalizing wars of aggression.

There’s some chatter on the web about a Uke attack on airfield in Russia (Shaykivka) using kamikaze drones. Says they destroyed two TU-22M’s.

Nothing verified as yet. Have our Russian friends heard anything? Crazy if true.

You need to get out more. Try some African,Asian and Latin American English speaking social media platforms. The West is a small part of the World and most of the rest have experience of the "American way" and don't like it.

I read that Russia air defences have been undermined by operational requirements in Ukraine, and it's like Swiss cheese.

However, I doubt this is true as surely there's more pressing and high-value targets; I'm filing this in baloney.

Sorry for my confusion but I’m still not clear why Russia don’t have anything close to air superiority throughout this campaign - any articles that you can recall that explain the backstory on what happened or is it the same story of corruption/overestimation of capability/ lack of training/maintenance ?
