Now we have politicians calling Putin, Stalin like in an effort to degrade him. Isn’t Stalin one of his hero’s?

I was following r/World News thread on reddit, majority of people there behave like they watching some sport game or playing Call of Duty

Here in my region, Serbs openly cheering for Russians, in my country a lot were convinced that Americans invented all of this (before invasion at least)

No one thinks that sanctions will stop a war once it breaks out.

We impose sanctions to make the threat of sanctions credible the next time someone thinks about starting a war.
The type of war being engaged in now can only be acted out by the likes of Russia and China.

Neither of whom would care about sanctions

If there's little appetite for this war in Russia they might also bring it to a quicker conclusion.
If the videos of protests in Moscow are accurate and not some anti mask or vaccine protest that's been falsely claimed as anti war on social media then hopefully things go south for Putin within Russia.

The nature of China's economy would make them far more vulnerable to sanctions. Unfortunately, this also means that the sanctions would be far more costly to the countries imposing them.

As crazy as it sounds, from my understanding the atomic bombs probably saved lives. The red army were about to launch a massive ground assault on Japan and the US would have had to confront them somewhere in the middle. The Japanese losses would have been devastating fighting on two fronts. The bombs proved it was futile to resist and prevented the Russians getting involved.
The terrorists who did 9/11 had thier reasons too. You can give all the reasons you want. Two cities worth if civilians. Incinerated alive. Targeting civilians to get what you want is the definition of terrorism. Whatever the reasons the terrorist give to justify. They wanted to cost maximum civilian casualties and maximum damage to get the point across.

They could have demonstrated thier new found power in a better way than killing two cities of civilians. It was pure evil no matter what reason like ending a war sooner to stop more military casualties.

Interesting my friend but not surprised. WW1 escalated because Russia supported Serbia after the assassination of Franz Ferdinand and his wife by a Serbian nationalist.

Millions died in a futile conflict. Please God we are not going there again.

No sanctions gonna stop Russia, its not like they didn't know its coming, and they still decided to proceed with a invasion.

A lot of big words gonna come next few days, but in reality Ukraine gonna be left dry and all the sanctions in the world not gonna help them.

America (only one who really matters) not gonna risk nuclear war for a sake of Ukraine

They will if imposed properly. If half hearted and on a small scale then no it wont.

I think its a catch 22. If we go in harshly then it could be war with Europe. If we dont and he takes Ukraine with ease, he wont stop there so we are just delaying the inevitable imo
