…..I’m old enough to remember Diane Abbott being the biggest critic of private education in this country and then sending her own son to a posh private school. It was a big story at the time but genuinely turned out very sad. The young man, whose godfather is jailed ex-Conservative minister Jonathan Aitken fell on very bad times.

Abbott has had things very tough, not forgetting the vile comments from the Tory donor and I’ve actually been concerned about her health and wellbeing for a number of years.

…..there’ll be a significant improvement in public services, I have absolutely no doubt about that. Conservatives buying Pensioner votes with increases when what matters more is how long they’d have to wait for an ambulance and sitting for hours on a trolley in a hospital corridor.

Different priorities, the party’s are nowhere near the same but it’s an easy line to take.
The levels of dodgy behaviour from the tory government are off the scale. From the links to shorting the pound and financiers, Brexit and Kwarteng, to tory donors pocketing millions in furlough cash, and then the PPE theft, it is unlike anything many have witnessed or will ever witness in their lifetime. The Track and Trace swindle cost more than NASA's budget to send a probe to Mars, and was budgeted for more than NASA's entire budget for 2023. Pub landlords getting £40 million contracts and the like. It stinks.

To your point, I agree that things will improve over time once this shower is booted out, but it will take two, possibly three terms to turn things around, in my opinion.

Rumour was that Newsnight discovered via leaks that she had been cleared in December and Starmer was waiting until after her deadline for registering as an independent (today/tomorrow?) to drop her from standing for the LP. If true, Starmer reappointing her yesterday was a fire quenching response to that and very shady behaviour. Besides all the Machieavellian stuff, and whatever one thinks of Abbot, she's played no small part in the majority she's held in her constituency and this, again, if true, shows a complete lack of respect for the Labour worker and what she's achieved and the constituents.
Yeah, bit naughty that. Didn't realise she'd missed the cut-off to stand as an independent.

Nonsense. People can vote for whoever they want to. You have multiple choices, I mean you could vote Green, the Socialist Party, for an indi MP, or even the tory's if you do not like Labour.
