My stance has been pretty clear.

To remove the Tories who have destroyed this country for the last 15 years.

I have nothing else to add, so im bidding farewell to this thread until July 4 when I shall rejoice at the crushing Labour victory.
You've really lost your mind on this one mate, it's great to see.

Disappointed and surprised you've not gone full 'KeirsGoat' yet though.

Thats not a bad idea now you mention it.

I never thought I would see the day that I would be considered an outcast for voting Labour on an Everton forum, but here we are.

It seems to me that everybody else has lost their mind.

Im just a simple man that grew up under a mostly Tory rule and watched them destroy the country over and over again.

Will Labour make a massive difference? It seems unlikely, but for the 6millionth time, there are no other viable options.

Now if people would stop tagging me in here I can flounce off for a few weeks and you can get the Tory wankathon in full flow.

You'd think people might have gotten a taste of reality in 2019, but it would appear not.

I'd love to be living in a country with a different electoral system (for example PR etc). But I don't. I live in a first past the post country. One of precisely 2 parties will be running the country on 5th July. Labour or the Conservatives.

You're not being asked to marry either Starmer or Sunak. Think of them as buses. The only two buses that are running. You want to get from A to B. So you pick the one that is going CLOSEST TO (and closest to may even be least far from) the destination you want. Then you do everything you can to apply pressure to that party to move them closer to your desired destination.

Make no mistake, ANY vote from someone left (or even centre... or christ, even centre right at this point) leaning that isn't for either: the Labour Party; or a tactical vote for whoever is most likely to defeat an incumbent Conservative in a given constituency is a vote for another 5 years of Tory government.

I wish it wasn't true, but that is the reality.

The problem is that the way Labour appear to be going about it - safe seats for their clique, ignoring the very real problems of inequality and shrinking opportunities, ignoring promises previously made and so on - is going to absolutely turbocharge Reform, or whatever fake party that replaces it.
That's one way of looking at it.

Another is that Corbyn's fan boys/girls would rather see a mean spirited tory party in power than Labour and are proactively talking/pushing an anything but Labour type approach.

Why are those on the Left leaving the party in such huge numbers, when such a disastrous PM, as you say Starmer surely will be, should be a doddle to challenge and topple?

I think you need to give those on the Left a bit more credit, we're not all so cowardly as the ones who have fled already. For some of them though, it seems that their main political aim is to be perpetually in opposition, and insist that they have the right answers whilst desparately making sure they never to prove it.
This is very true.

I kind of agree on this. On things like levelling up and migration, Labour have been pretty underwhelming so far and while I hope they'll improve once in office, there's a very real prospect of them not. The issue is that there really isn't anyone else in the equation, and especially not in terms of getting rid of the Tories.
Exactly, and besides that, they've already been compromised by unethical parties against the public interest. Just like the blue spivs.

Or we could just be familiar with these people, their activities and history.

Nothing would make me happier than for Labour to come into power and do what this country needs, to identify and deal with these urgent problems. I know that the people that form up a good chunk of the leadership group are absolutely incapable of doing it, though.

Negative voting in a two party race with our current electoral system is very scary to me. It effectively installs a dictatorship. No party should have as much power as Labour are going to have. In 5 years, we'll have had 10 years of a government essentially being able to do what it wants, just over 2 parties. Its barely worth Parliament sitting if some of these polls end up being right, we might as well just have Covid style Cabinet decision making.

None of it matters anyway, they can say what they want, but as always external factors will influence what actually happens. Once energy prices soar based on wars/natural disasters etc it all falls apart and doesn't matter who is in charge.

I guess many will take solace from things being just as bad as long as the government has the "right intentions". But I do wonder where the anger currently aimed at the Tories will go when things don't improve.

And don't get me started on how Israel/Palestine is becoming such a large part of people's voting decisions, ignoring things that actually have an effect on their own lives.

The whole system is broken, this isn't democracy (or maybe its exactly as intended)
