…it doesn’t suit your agenda but there’ll be a much better public services offer under Labour, there always is. As somebody who worked in the public sector for 41 years, I know the difference and it’ll be the same this time.

In 5 years waiting lists will be right down, you won’t gave to wait 2 hours for an ambulance. These are the type of things that matter.
In 41 years, we've only had one Labour government, so I'm not sure you can make the claim that "there always is" based on that.

They were much better during the Blair/Brown years, I'll grant that, but that government inherited a much stronger economy from Major to build upon than the disaster zone left by this bunch of incompetents and vandals. These tossers have sold the country down the river for at least a generation, if not more.

back in the real world....
"This week the first constituency-specific poll of the campaign put Labour’s support at 43% and Corbyn’s at 29%. But when people were asked to pick directly between Corbyn and Labour, he was ahead, by 48% to 40%."

What an awful argument. Basically, if only all the other parties weren't putting up candidates (as is their right), then he'd win against the new Labour candidate in straight head to head? That's not how elections work in a parliamentary system fella.

That recent poll demostrated that most of the electorate in that constintuency don't want him, not now he's running as an independant. The place he's held a seat in for 40 years as a Labour MP. Yet his cultist die-hards still continue to claim he's widely popular. It goes against all facts and evidence.

I don't think you can actually read properly

To get that you need to spend.

You obviously didn't get their memo on spending.

….money will be found for public services after the General Election ‘game’ is complete, especially if Labour win a decent majority.
Ha ha ha ha.

You have no idea who Starmer is.

He's a Tory. Pure and simple.

Austerity stays. The fiscal lock is in place and staying in place. They said it so many times that the 'Labour' Party would never get elected again if they reneged on that policy in office.

You and millions of others have been duped by a man who is the creature of neoliberal economics and neocon politics.

A complete waste of time with your type. Can't be arsed.
He also worked extremely hard for his local constituency for the vast majority of his political career. 30 odd years of backbenching hardly sounds like a career opportunist

I did not say he was an opportunist, I said oppositionist. Which means he has no plans for anything, or desire to actually be in power where you can make a real difference to people's lives. Labour should be a broad church, but people at the top have to be folk serious about the issues and willing to fight the battles that need to be won if you're going to win elections. Corbyn refused to even try. Quite simply he is not a serious political figure and never should have been party leader.

He's about to lose his seat which only tells you he isn't as loved by his constituents as people want to believe. 40 years of service and yet he can't win once Labour remove the whip? That says a lot tbh.

Where did I say that I supported everything that Blair did? I was happy to campaign for him to be elected and believed in his manifesto.

I have no idea why he decided to hlitch his wagon to Bush.
Think it was pre-hitched. As would be the case with any UK PM.

I think you're making too much of him losing his seat.

YouGov has said it's very tight and too close to call, and there's reasons why the polls are the way they are.

Wouldn't surprise me if he lost his seat, but I imagine he'd be by far the most popular independent candidate in the country come polling day.

A lot of people vote labour no matter the circumstances in this country, I don't think it says much about his popularity within his constituency. There's probably a lot of people who like him but will still vote Labour.
