2025/26 Tyrique George

Why on earth would he?!? Is Tyrique George going to kick a ball any more often than that lad from Southampton we dropped £40m on who seems to be completely forgotten about.

Not suggesting TG is a world beater or should be handed starts for no reason, but there's nothing about this club or team or manager that screams "we play young players". You have to earn your place in a Moyes team, and at this time of his career, it's very much about the here for Moyes and now not years down the line.

Wouldn't surprise me one iota to see this lad holding up a Crystal Palace shirt on transfer deadline day. Seems like that kind of player in that kind of situation perfect for that kind of transfer.
Maybe these young players shouldn't be in such a rush?

And if we lived in common sense world I'd agree with you 1000%. But we don't.

TG is at the age where he probably needs to play every week if he's going to have a chance at a career, not sit on the bench every week, hoping for 10 mins here and there. Same as Aznou. Same as Dibling. Same as Harrison. And probably not a million miles off the Braiden Graham kid.

Somewhere like Palace who seem the epitomy of 12th place every year would be the perfect move for him so he can play every week, instead of sitting on the bench here or at Chelsea, twidling his thumbs, but enjoying his paycheque. Depends what he wants I suppose.

Or he could play himself into a starting spot by being good, much like he did on his debut. Unfortunately he was then pretty bad when he started against Bournemouth, but you'd hope after today he'll get another chance.

Just don't see it quite the same way when there's a very strong correlation between big minutes as a youngster shortening careers generally speaking.

George in a rotation role for a season behind Grealish/Ndiaye could very easily be better for his career and development than being thrust into a starting role he may not be ready for at another club, which would in turn set him back in his career. Aznou is a pretty good example of this, he comes to us in the hope of more mins and competing for a starter role - he probably would've been better off staying the course at Bayern and now he's in a limbo.

The youngsters who go searching for mins at all costs often damage their own careers trying to get too much to fast. It might commendable that they're willing to take a step down to play football, but it is often to their own detriment.

If the manager likes TG and we want to sign him, we're probably a lot safer of a bet than going to Palace type club.

Let's be real: in a Moyes team at this time in his career, it's about the here and now. Perhaps that sums up why our £40m "world class young talent" from Saints has barely kicked a ball. TG is an ok player, but no world beater, so he's not going to play anymore here than at CFC because both clubs need instant results (hence my thinking somewhere like Palace or B'mouth or Brighton could be ideal for him; that sort of 10th/11th/12th ish level). I appreciate its hard to judge with little game time and I'm not writing him off by any stretch, but anyone who knows Moyes knows full well he prefers ready made players not kids with potential, and I fully understand why.

It's all "ifs and buts". If memory serves, Aznou was at Bayern for about three seasons but basically never kicked a ball (specifics aside it's probably how he ended up on loan at the bottom team in Spain). Unless it was a very favourable deal I'd be very very surprised if Moyes had any interest in TG for next season (other than perhaps another loan). He just doesn't seem like "the Moyes type". Moyes wants Ndiaye and Grealish and McNeil: ready made Prem proven players, not Dibling and George who've played 5 mins in their lives (so to speak).

Moyes is at the end of his career, it's not about giving kids game time for him, it's about winning here and now. YES the young kids must earn their place in the side not be handed it like Lampard might have done, but I just don't see someone like a TG being anywhere near the top of Moyes' wishlist. Wouldn't surprise me one iota if the "Moyes dream" for wide attackers next season was Grealish + H.Wilson [depending if Ndiaye stays or goes], not Dibling + George.

If the comparison is simply tyrique vs mcniel then tyrique wins hands down. McNeil should have been a Left Back or an Box-to-Box midfielder when developing. Mr.Gravel did him dirty. Still would be nice to keep hold of our players unless we get good money, but tyrique at 17.5m is a wonderful deal.

Where has £17.5mil appeared from?

He will likely go to Bournemouth, Brighton or Palace I would imagine, they're a better fit for a young player wanting first team football. They also have pacier players on the transition which will suit his game.

watching Bournemouth play Arsenal yesterday and they do have an exciting front line full of pace and movement, at times Arsenal struggling to cope, Moyes likes his players to defend like McNeil
