2025/26 Tyler Dibling

I’d be flabbergasted if Moyes signed off nearly ½ his transfer budget on one for the future.

Unless there’s massive kitty available this summer it makes absolutely no sense.

Mind you, apparently we won’t be able to get who we actually want without Europe anyway….

Id say we went Bakayoko, Fofana, Kubo got none and panicked and got Dibling because it was a deal we could do mate.

People talk about signing of on players:

“You can have Dibling or nobody, what do you think”?

“I’ll take Dibling”.

There would have been another option of sit on that £38-£40m until you can use it on someone who would actually play.

We don’t know what the options were. The club certainly missed out on first choices. That said, it will be much more attractive in the summer after a season of good consolidation. Going into this season we were an absolute mess.

If we make Europe it will be more attractive. If we don’t, and it’s looking more likely we might not at the moment, the club is the exact same proposition as last season. In fact, unless something changes with Moyes’ contract or a new manager, then it’s actually in a worse position. At least last summer every player knew they were signing for Moyes for the foreseeable. This summer we’ll be trying to attract players, once again with no europe to offer, and now our manager might be in his final year with no certainty on what the plans beyond that are.

The type of players who said no to us last summer will just say no to us again, in fact they’ll be even more inclined to because we’ll have just confirmed their suspicions that we’re not moving forward quickly enough, we’ve only progressed the club by a handful of points from where it was, the football style hasn’t progressed, and young attacking players can’t get a look in and the ones that have played have regressed.

I don’t think we’re very attractive at all in the current state.

Last summer although we pulled well clear of relegation, we’d done that previously then looked down the barrel again next season. Even if we don’t make Europe, we’re mid table and competing again to be up there so we look a far brighter prospect. The issue is Moyes contract length. Will players really sign for a manager with only 1 year left. That could be the challenge.

Lookman wanted everything now. It took him a further 3 seasons, two transfers and two loans to become the player he is. It's not as if he walked away and instantly became a great player, he probably wasn't ready when he was at Everton.
Correct. But having Allardyce in charge of his development was detrimental

It’s all opinion, but I disagree. So many players left last summer and it’s still early doors on a rebuild. But we’ve definitely showed we are improving and building this season.

We need to move on from Moyes as pragmatism only gets you so far and we need to be more ambitious as a club if we're to be relevant from a winning trophies and qualifying for Europe on a regular basis kind of standpoint

We didn't improve from last season. Projection since late January when Moyes takes the team was 61 points. This year we will reach only 59 with some luck
Talk about twisting things:
  • 2024–25: 48 points
  • 2023–24: 40 points
  • 2022–23: 36 points
  • 2021–22: 39 points
Guess who’s responsible for last season’s surprisingly decent haul?
