2025/26 Tyler Dibling

Cannot imagine he gets much game time by the end of the season given what's at stake and his less than impressive showings so far, albeit in limited minutes. He's looked appalling, and Moyes obviously does not like what he's seeing behind the scenes from him.

This signing may ultimately prove to be the difference in us missing out on European qualification if it turns out we wasted 35 million on a winger that wasn't used when we desperately needed strikers and full backs.

You wrote our season off at the beginning of it, so you don't get to have European expectations.

Not at all. He's a long-term investment. We have the funds for full backs but Moyes chose not to buy the ones recommended to him. As for the striker we bought Barry and had Beto who did well when Moyes took over last season. Lots of hindsight views on here

Some of you need to get your head around the fact that not every signing is made for immediate returns.

Could that money have been better utiilised, given the holes in our squad? Perhaps.

But we’ve all been moaning for years how we always miss out on the top young talent (something this lad is rated as throughout football).

Patience.

Talking of hindsight maybe it'd been better to buy him but leave him at Southampton on loan to develop there

The other aspect that hasn't been talked about is the perception of how the club and Moyes handle youngsters.

If we're in for any young talent in the Summer, they're going to look at Dibling and how this season has panned out and have second thoughts about us, especially if there are alternatives. The likes of Bournemouth and Brighton can offer structure and proven pathways to big teams. We offer 5 mins here and there, if you're lucky.

He's been mishandled, badly.

Or they could look at those teams you just mentioned and see the young players who are also not getting many minutes.

Like the young Brighton centre forward who has had 450 minutes all season. Or their other young centre forward who has only had 300 minutes all season.
Or their young winger who has had less than 200 minutes. Or the 2 young players who have received a whopping 1 minute of game time.

This is one of the clubs who’s whole business model is to develop players and flip them btw.

Not all player development is linear.

I think a lot of the disappointment comes from the fact he played over 30 Premier League games last season and isn't just an unknown quantity from abroad. We have to be honest his minutes this season have not been productive. When Afcon came around it was expected he'd fit in on the right and sadly he didn't take his chance.

We had Truffert and Wesley ready to go remember but Moyes turned them down.

No Wesley we were in negotiations with in January - this was a separate thing to the Roma purchase in the summer

Both of these were confirmed by Boyland
Confirmed is a strong choice of words. Every single thing Boyland is told is by a source with an agenda. Not having a go at him but thats literally how it works. Truffert for example we bid for, doesn't sound like Moyes turned him down at all
