2025/26 Tyler Dibling

The door is wide open for him following the injury to Grealish. There’s no “favourite” in front of him like in other positions.

Instead of playing him, Moyes has opted for 2 young lads fresh through the door last month (Armstrong returning obviously).

That suggests to me that he’s stinking FF out or there’s something more going on with him personally.

Armstrong isn’t a winger but he actually did fine when he came on against Bournemouth because he has a bit of football intelligence. He dropped deep to collect the ball, he cut inside, he played positive first time passes, he kept close to other players..

Dibling seems to stand on the by-line on his heels and either passes straight back to the full back or starts running up a cul de sac and tries to dribble past 2 players.
You a ever think he passes back a lot because a certain manager has instilled a fear that if he loses the ball he'll lose further opportunities? Also the way we've been setup attacking wise really isolates the forward players so when gets covered no one is around him to play off to. I'm not saying he's immune from criticism but I don't think he's been provided an environment to thrive

Yh, majority of the time when he's been on the pitch he's getting doubled up on with no fullback supporting him. Also been moments where he has had opportunities 1v1 and not taken the positive decision, but personally see that as a symptom of him feeling isolated the rest of the time and not having the confidence to play his natural game.

Tyler could be doing more but we could be doing a lot more to help him with how we set up imo.

Never looks happy. I've heard that the lads badly homesick. He's from rather good stock apparently and with a name like Tyler Dibling you'd expect that. If he's not right mentally off the pitch, he's not gonna be right on it.

Where have you heard that he’s homesick or is it yet another lazy rehash from his time as a kid at Chelsea ?

Also why would the name Tyler equate to coming from “ good stock “ ?

Round where I live, lads called Tyler, are normally dressed in full North Face ninja uniform, doing about 70mph on their derestricted electric mountain bikes, with a plume of skunk fumes following them.

Due to my job I got to spend 2hrs with Tyler today. Apart from saying hi, he said nothing at all. But that look, those eyes, they stared deep into my soul and I could hear him in a quiet, timid voice say "macca, I'm homesick. p.s do you have change of a fiver for the vending machine"

Some of the above may or may not have happened today.

He is exactly what I thought he was before we signed him. To a T. He has a lot of growing to do which is why I was very hesitant on signing him. I do think Moyes has put him in a position to fail though. Ndiaye can function solo because he is a finished product. Dibling not so much because he is young and doesn't have blistering pace to get away from defenders. He hasn't learned how to deal with the pressure yet. This league is difficult on players without athleticism to break free.

Well we're in a situation where we're not getting relegated and not favourites to qualify for Europe.

I think the manager can afford to look at it like this:

1. McNeil is off in the summer
2. Dibling was bought very expensively

As a result, even if he comes in and plays badly, it's a no-brainer to give young Tyler an extended run in the side, because at his worst he'd only be as bad as McNeil anyway.

That should make him first backup to George in terms of selection, anyway, or rotating, or starting with Dewsbury Hall deeper and no Gueye.

…..you clearly didn’t watch Armstrong at Derby County. I’d say Dibling is nothing like Armstrong.
Eggs is absolutely right.

Even if you are arguing that as young players they both needed games I'd suggest that Armstrong demonstrated that with his physicality , maturity , football intelligence and game management he could be trusted to play. Dibling does not appear to have any of those qualities
