TV Series

Don't understand this bit. Cheers and Frasier have great writers and actors etc but, the humour is slightly different. Not sure how either is superior? I like them both, as separate but, sort of linked comedies.

In the regard that Frasier became a bigger and longer-running show than Cheers. Spin offs are rarely successful, so Frasier is an example of a spin off that could claim to be more successful than the original show.

I'm not sure whether you do have to have watched BB to watch BCS. The black and white future scenes in BCS will probably be even more intriguiging if you haven't seen BB. It's a prequel, it's not as if it will be full of spoilers.
I can't see why you'd want to watch BCS in isolation though. It's whole raison d'être is about how Saul Goodman comes to be. If you don't know who Saul Goodman is or why he is worthy of his own story, it kinda becomes meaningless.

I thought you meant quality of show. Yes, an example of a failed spin-off would be 'Joey' from 'Friends', you'd have thought it would've been popular but, got binned after 2 (?) seasons.

Disagree. I only got through 2 seasons of BB. Right up to where Saul was introduced. You guys are watching it knowing who all these characters are, but I'm watching it in real time. So when I got back to finish BB, I know the back story.

It's not better, it's just different. Plus there are characters in BCS that aren't in BB, so it has it's own identity.

Disagree. It works as a standalone show. Yes, the context would be very different, but it is still interesting and entertaining enough to exist without prior knowledge of Breaking Bad.
