TV Series

The Sopranos was my number 1 show until Breaking Bad just about took top spot.

If you liked Breaking Bad, give Better Call Saul a go - it's like the thinking mans Breaking Bad.
I loved Breaking Bad, but just don't think it can compete with The Sopranos.

I've been tempted by BCS, but I'm scared it won't live up to expectations and will ruin the: Saul, Mike and Gus characters.

It doesn't mate.

It makes the characters much better, as they get to be centre stage, rather than bit part.

The writing is just as good as Breaking Bad.

Better Call Saul is great. I also had my doubts about how they'd deal with bringing those characters in, but it's done really well. Bit like watching the new Star Wars films, I got that little pang of nostalgia when they show up. ;)

You've got nothing to worry about on your last point, BCS enhances the characters, and introduces some excellent new characters, particularly Kim, Howard and Nacho.

Don't fear, if anything the writers have got better at storytelling since BB.

Absolutely. It is a more accomplished show than Breaking Bad, in writing, acting, pacing and even comedy. While it retains that very distinctive BB style, it is a very different story (so far) to BB. It has the potential to 'do a Frasier', where the spin-off is superior to the original on which it was based.

Just be warned though, it is a slow burner (sometimes very slow), but I've adapted to that and now I just find it constantly intriguiging and clever, with hidden meanings everywhere.

I loved the Sopranos too, it's basically a really well done, heavyweight Greek tradgedy.

But I find Breaking Bad more enjoyable because it is so stylish, inventive and fun. I think Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould (the guys behind BB and BCS) have just perfected their craft and make such entertaining TV.

Don't understand this bit. Cheers and Frasier have great writers and actors etc but, the humour is slightly different. Not sure how either is superior? I like them both, as separate but, sort of linked comedies.
