TV Series

Everyone is going mental over the first episode of 'American Gods'. Not seen it yet but was surprised to find out the lead actor is mateyboy from Hollyoaks... random.

Going mental how?

I love the book but I'm not sure how people new to the material are going to find the TV show. I like Bryan Fuller who is directing it, he also did Hannibal. He has a big thing for slow mo shots of blood flying everywhere though and the beginning of the first episode was one that I thought might put people off.

Its going to be a hard show to try and sell to people who haven't watched it without giving too much of the plot away.

My girlfriend never read the books but enjoyed the first episode and wants to watch again next week so I'm hopeful.

The new series of Archer: Dreamland is absolute quality so far. Really don't understand why it doesn't get more hype than it does.
This new series is losing me a bit. The creator, Adam West, was coming off a surgery when he wrote it and was basically high on painkillers when he came up with most of it.

The frequency of jokes has slowed down and I'm not sure I like the plot.

Watched the first ep of Big Little Lies last night. Very good. Reminded me a lot of Bloodline. I expect we'll have this one boxed off very quickly.

Big fan of the book also. Looking forward to the show. I'll probably wait until it's a few episodes in though

I finally completed season one of Quarry yesterday. It was well worth persevering with as it improves considerably over the eight episodes and the final two (particularly the last) are spectacular. I can't enjoy it as much as I'd like to however because it's so wildly different from the sorce material and I just can't identify this Quarry to the one from the books. I'd still recommend it to anyone (especially if youve never read the books) but I'd say to brace yourself if you have and try to look at it objectively. I was originally going to give it 6 out of ten but the final two episodes were so good I had to bump it up to 7/10.
