This may be controversial but....as great a player as Alex Young was, he had a lot of indifferent games for Everton, particularly away from home,and did not really like being hit hard by some of the defenders who were around in those days. A lot of clubs would have considered him their 'luxury player' and he did only have a limited number of caps for Scotland. Absolute legend at Everton of course,and I have told the story before of meeting him and Jimmy Gabriel in the gents at St Philomenas club at the Old Roan I stood at the stalls between them and Jimmy says 'How does it feel to be having a slash with two Scottish Internationalists?' to which the Golden Vision replied 'Played for Scotland have you, Jimmy?'

Baines was always great going forward, but defensively the best he ever was was 'good ish'. In fact didn't Ashley whatsisname keep him out of the England team for long periods. Baines was never brilliant for England, one reason being that Gerrard played in front of him and never showed for the ball.
