Tottenham Hotspur

KDH turned 27 in September and some of us wanted him next to Garner in 2023.

Tarkowski was on a free transfer and a defensive leader of high quality.

Lets not confuse them with McGinn.

A player who recently turned 31 who Villa wanted £30-35mil for. According to different sources if was at the higher end and they didnt want to lose their leader.

Being "young" or being "foreign" or being "Tarkowski" or being "KDH" are all extreme references which have no bearing on anyone with common sense. Looking at a £35mil fee for a soon to be 31 year old whose energy level is a big part of his game would have been utter madness.

It seems like you'd sign him at £30mil this summer which would be equally insane.

Cant be spending money on players like that. This is how Moyes destroyed Sunderland and West Ham.
You took that one quite personally didn’t you 🤣

I never said anything about money I said that people sneered at the idea of the player and I said nothing about this summer or 30m either, of course we shouldn’t sign him for 30m this summer that’s mad, I’m saying he’s a very good player. I just googled it to refresh my memory and reports I can see were that we apparently offered 18m last summer and I can remember people being glad it was turned down and losing it that we would have even tried for the player.

Anyway I remember you being vaulted for your early opinions on KDH last summer, regardless of your feelings two years prior, so you were wrong about that and i bet you would have had something to say about Tarkowski on a free too that wasn’t positive I cba to look it up.

No, I didn't take it "personally" I saw utter nonsense and pointed that out.

You're furiously backtracking now and throwing out £18mil which would have also been an insane fee to pay for John McGinn.

Today we're linked with Watkins for £30mil who turns 31 in December. It's typical Moyes.

Not really sure what you're on about regarding KDH and Tarkowski.

I was very happy to get Tarkowski but you can see that. KDH we overpaid for him as we shouldnt have given them their money back, nor should he be playing at 10.

Huge difference with these players and the likes of Watkins and McGinn.

Spurs havent got any 30+ players in their tsam which can contribute to a lack of leadership.

You need those experienced players in a squad but absolutely not at ridiculous fees. Nor would a McGinn or a Watkins get into any of the top sides.

We need more Garners.

You’re so argumentative it’s crazy. Read my posts in the calm tone of voice I’m writing them.

Which part of me saying people were wrong to be sneering at McGinn and he’s a cracking player was wrong? Which part of me saying people also felt that way about us signing Tarkowski and Dewsbury-Hall was wrong?
Ok good so there’s no ‘furious backtracking’ from me because that was all I said, only you started throwing huge fees around, I just talked about the player and reminded myself what we reportedly offered after you brought up money.

You then went on to say that you need experienced players which was my point when I replied to the original post asking where the rot set in with that squad because they have no proper leaders, so yes I agree.

You then said but not at ridiculous fees which is obviously also correct and you were the only one who started mentioning ridiculous fees. I wouldn’t have wanted McGinn at 30+ last summer either but I didn’t have a problem with us throwing in an offer at around half that as he’s a cracking player.

Hope that clears everything up?

The points you're conflating here are McGinn being a good player, good signing and his fee.

People didnt want him due to his fee. For the fee a superior and yes, younger player should be signed.

As for being a good player, posters judged him being a good signing - on a free, short term deal and low wage his signing could have been a good one.

So your entire point is based upon conflating several items which, when separated give a clearer picture.

Free, Low wage, short term deal = yes
High fee, High wage, long term deal = no

I dont think theres much were disagreeing on, its just the way you framed it about posters not wanting him which is different to posters saying hes crap.

Wonder what he could sue them for
conflating points around signings?

it's not even press talk, it's freddy vermouth chatter on former twitter. reputational damage and standards not adhered to as was the agreement for his stepping aside. he hasn't injured so much of the squad and had the rest lose their minds. was all a great laugh last season in some poxy final vs a stoned man utd.
I don't know how spurs turn this spit* show around, if they survive they've a squad in the main that is away for a lot of the summer, they start the new season with a couple of weeks training? if they don't they'll lose a few players and start the championship even earlier.

Mate stop this 🤣

I said people on here sneered at us looking at signing him and just had a look back in the thread and on the first few pages saw different posters say:

‘Yard dog’, ‘plodder’, ‘no thanks’ without any fee being mentioned.

I didn’t frame it as anything other than some people didn’t want him, I didn’t mention a fee, I don’t know why you’re arguing with me 🤣

They're overthinking on the Spurs forum.

I’m getting far too civil in my older age. I’m really starting to feel for them!
Maybe it’s because of the post Ancelotti horror years we had going from Carlo, James Rodriguez, chasing champions league football, number one in the pop charts to suddenly Benitez, Rondon and relegation battles
