Tottenham Hotspur

Ideally, West Ham will absolutely smash Wolves next Friday night and not only go two points ahead of Spurs and out of the relegation zone, but hopefully close the goal difference advantage Spurs currently have over them by 3-4 goals too.

Nuno should have it in him to get West Ham fired up for that game with what's at stake.

Then Spurs go to Sunderland, lose 3-0, hopefully they get a few injuries, Romero and Van De Ven get themselves sent off again, and they're really staring down the barrel then.

Suddenly makes Moyes wanting McGinn a little more clear (as well as villa tailing off when he was injured). Every side needs it's standard bearer on the pitch, to set an example and lead from the front. Worth their weight in gold.
People in here sneering at McGinn was classic non-trendy footballer reaction, same as some when we signed KDH, Tarkowski etc.

If they aren’t young or foreign or ideally both there are people that just won’t have it

McGinn showed again for another season he’s a cracking player (even though his celebration is rubbish)

Their choices were a rape apologist or Dyche, and they’ve gone with the rape apologist and handed him a FIVE YEAR DEAL. For all his flaws, Levy really did hold that club together
This is how bad Dyche's footy is that they weren't even interested in giving him a call.

Every link to him was him or his agent working their connections I guarantee it.

I think De Zerbi would be a good appointment for them but only in the summer if they survive.

Not sure he will get them over the line with 7 games remaining.

If Moyes can spot anything it's a grafter, when he falls on a player that'll put the yards in for him and has fallen on hard times and has a bit of flair, he (Moyes) is their knight in shining armour. It's why so many have so much positive to say about him and has a history of turning careers around.
Put the effort in for him, and he'll do similar in return. Muck him about, and it's a very cold shoulder though. Moyes best sides for us were filled with workers, that'd put a shift in wherever asked. Ties in directly with that old Goodison lore, 'the crowd don't mind if you're not a world beater, so long as you try your hardest and leave all you've got out there on the pitch, there'll be no grumbling'.

Arguments can be made both ways but I am merely going off general experience of watching how teams play when there is nothing to play for. In an ideal world you imagine they have the shackles removed and can play ‘freely’ but in practice this is unreliable IMHO

Already a tremendous schedule in a WC year, people will check out

Im also going off plenty of experience of watching teams play when their fate is sealed. There is two different 'nothing to play fors'. One is a team sat off in mid table, no relegation, no Europe. Another is a team who hasn't dealt well with the pressure of getting out of the bottom 3, and then suddenly have pressure taken off them.

Anyway. On your other point, 13 Spurs players are full internationals who may have a chance of going to the world cup. Wolves have 9 internationals, 2 of which are u21.

Also, many of the Spurs players have had greater exposure, so if Spurs do go down it is likely they will be sold/released and stay in the division. Not sure who I'd have from Wolves. Even the optics are different. Wolves are going down... meh. Spurs are going down. Wow, a team with that much quality, madness.

Wolves have also been here before, they have, and are showing a fight in them. They'll go down, but they wont want to go quietly. Spurs have nothing in the tank, seemingly. A lot will show after their latest managerial change and whether they respond at all or continue as they are.

I don’t buy this ‘players with nothing to play for’ thing with teams going down. If players like Idrissa Gana Gueye, Jordan Pickford or James Tarkowski had started to play rubbish and not played with pride then we wouldn’t have bought them - it’s time for these players to show character, pride and get signed by a team who will put them back on the biggest stage.

I do buy teams at the top end playing worse after winning all they can win or being locked in for a champions league spot or whatever because they’ve already proven what they can do and probably don’t need a new contract or a big move.
