Tom Cannon

That is exactly it m8, Cannon has just developed later then others and I'd love to see him get at least another year on loan to see how much more he progresses.
Kane is the exact player I was thinking of, not cos of there playing style but that some players just take that bit longer to grow Into the player/star they become.

If you remember kane went out on loan at same time as Chris Wood I think it was, and nobody took notice of Kane, it was Wood who looked the player and got all the attention.
Look at there careers since!!!

We are going to make that mistake at some point and after seeing Cannon last season, he is finally starting to look like a proper player.

It would be a total and utter failure to let him go now.
That is it, up to the start of last season he seemed to be a rather ordinary player but then once the season started he looked fitter, stronger and more determined to prove he could become a better than average player. He now looks like he has more belief in himself and will continue to do his upmost to improve his prospects and career. I hope it is with Everton.

Still think he needs another loan move with us hopefully getting more forward players in. Needs to be starting games then look at him and the end of season and see if he can come back and make an impact for us or sell him for more money if he has another good season

You won’t ever know how good the likes of Cannon and Mills are unless you dare to play them.
Would you start him as our striker first game of the season if DCL isn't fit? Obviously easy for me to say sitting in the comfort of my living room but I'd love to see what he could do for us.

is a big risk for me i would use him as 3 rd choice but would not help him. We really need a backup cf who is ready to make an impact. I think a loan would be better for him, just think is to much pressure here atm for him to be playing cf here

I think this boy has tons of potential and we would be foolish to sell him for imo a damnably low fee, to Sunderland or anyone else. Keep him and see if Dyche can work something with him.
We have been linked with a move for a midfield player from Blackburn. Maybe a deal were we buy the midfielder and loan Cannon to them would be good for us?

I assume you mean that Wharton kid? I don't know much about him tbh to say if that would be a good deal for us or not. Yes, be good to not lose Cannon permanently but I think DCL needs some kind of push behind him also. Its a tough decision all around but again at the end of the day I would prefer Cannon to stay in whatever way possible.

….what if he goes on loan and doesn’t get games? Posters talk of loan deals like they are La La Land but they can be disastrous. If a young players form dips when on loan, their development won’t be looked after, they’ll be dropped. They don’t train with top flight players and coaches each day.

Another loan will simply be a sign he’s not good enough. If he’s the talent we hope, Dyche will want access to him next season. I’d go as far as saying if he goes on loan he has no future at Everton.

It does mean a little if it’s a quality loan but yes they are very hit and miss. It’s not a guarantee and if we are short on players it would be very concerning that he isn’t even being considered (for multiple reasons). If we sign two guys that can play striker behind Dom… then the loan makes more sense. He can increase his value and prove his performances last year weren’t flukes. Would rather him not rot on the bench here. Would hope he is given a fair chance though

I've been quite critical of the approach to sell younger players, particularly ISS this summer, but you are absolutely right on this. It gets to a point with a player, that if they arent good enough, you may be best cashing in your chips.

He has shown he is good enough for the championship. Short of tearing the league up, its difficult to see what value is added for him doing it again. He will just be doing the ame thing again, but be a year older.

I'm hopeful the club start to make decisions on players a bit more, play the ones who are good enough and sell the ones who arent a bit earlier, rather than delaying the decision with lots of loans.
