Would you want Cannon or Simms on the bench next season? Surely it would be a waste to have them both there when there will be loan suitors wanting either of them.

….I think we’ve seen enough of Simms to know the answer to that question. I’d be disappointed if Dyche hasn’t told him he’s not in his plans.

I think Dyche will want to look at Cannon in pre-season. He‘s a bit like Vydra, who Dyche used to good affect at Burnley (not least because Keane was scared stiff of him when they played us).

Yeah, I agree with this. Simms has enough about him to carve a career out at Championship level I think, but there's really only been very brief moments in his 1st team appearances here where he's looked effective. Cannon I can only judge on a few highlights from Preston, so it'd be pointless me offering an opinion.

Plenty of others have gambled they'll get a call up rather than tying themselves to Ireland. Bamford amongst others.

Just they way International football is at the moment. Be like Rugby soon.
In fairness to Cannon he’s stuck with Ireland through youth call ups, I can’t see him changing allegiance now even in the current unlikely event of England coming calling.

I’d do what we did with Simms last season, send him out to the Championship again until Christmas, then consider bringing him back in January. His star is on the rise let him continue. Cannon has displayed the same qualities of self improvement beyond what he looked capable of that Anthony Gordon showed . Yeah, yeah , we all hate Gordon, 🙄, he wasn’t even as talented as Kieran Dowell but unlike Dowell worked his socks off to improve his game. Cannon has been the same over the past 18 months or so and improved tremendously, overtaking the more talented Lewis Dobbin in the process. Simms too could learn from Cannon, six years of gradual improvement has got him to Championship level, we ain’t waiting another six years for him to make the next leap up. Cannon’s still only 20, one more season of progression and we could have a decent PL player on our hands.

Simms too could learn from Cannon
I mean he was doing ok at Sunderland and sure he was also learning then Everton recall him to sit on the bench most weeks he did score a pretty important goal against Chelsea as well. I’m sure another 6 months at Sunderland would of done him the world of good, there’s no substitute for competitive games early on in your career.

I saw Simms mentioned around £2.5mil value -- remembered it as id randomly chucked the figure around too.

Cannon ive had in my mind £6mil for some reason.
