Today's football.

This sounds so much like "they won't win it" as they were rattling up the points scoring 5 at spurs and charging up the table.

The biggest mistake in footy is underestimating the devils spawn they'll come out the blocks next year like rabid dogs to prove everyone wrong - they'll love it being written off defending champions.

They didn't even think they'd go on this run to be honest.

Just look at their squad. Their starting 11 is what has got them where they are. They've always been 2 injuries away from pure meltdown. The reason why key players for the big boys - Aguero, Hazard, Ramsey, etc - is that they're playing more games at a higher level over the course.

The RS crashed out of the Carling Cup early doors and the FA Cup when a tough away game popped up. So rolling into next season, they've got to bring in 4-5 good to top players to fight on all fronts.

And with United etc all spending stupid money to get back where they were, its gonna be tough.

Same with us. We'll have no chance of a top 4 finish next season. We've got to take our chance now.

This. They need to be put in their place pretty early and ruthlessly.

IMO though they will struggle like [Poor language removed] with two games per week.

Wouldn't hold my breath on that over here. Too busy getting their snouts in the Premier League trough.

I expect Mourinho to be bollocked and ridiculed a bit...but the underlying point will have been made (and no doubt added to by others shortly) and the undercurrent will have been created...which is what Mourinho had in mind, I'm pretty sure.

Liverpool have done well this season, no question. But even without less games to play they've needed a huge leg up in terms of decision making from officials, and that has been noted and must be addressed.

Unfortunately they are champions. We can only hope this season's refereeing performances are properly scrutinised as being pretty outrageous and it's never repeated again.

haha, they're utterly hopeless, the whole set of them. riley was probably the worst prem ref ever and he's their boss. taking liverpool out of the equasion, they have all been hopeless this season for just about everyone, which makes me think it may not all be a fix, just incompetancy.

i just don't rate a lot of their squad tbh. might just be because they're RS. but people like brad jones, johnson, enrique, skrtel, sakho, toure, allen, lucas, henderson, coutinho, borini, aspas, alberto? etc. they're all a bit meh, aren't they?

Jones, Johnson, Enrique, Sakho, Toure, Allen, Lucas, Borini, Aspas, Alberto.

Yup. That's not going to compete in the league and champions league next season.

I can't think of many decisions Liverpool had against them which were obviously scandalous. The Carroll one at West ham (hardly scandalous, btw) was quickly 'made good' with a gimme pen.

They'll spend. However, it's work load and mental preparation time with Europe and domestic fixtures piling up that'll kill them...at first anyway. They'll need a few seasons playing in each to get up to speed in how to handle that.

No doubt.

But United, Spurs, City, Chelsea will too. More than them. I can see United blowing £100million in the summer. Spurs will get a decent manager in. City and Chelsea will bag the best talent.

That top 4 will be locked by Crimbo next season.

Carroll was blatantly pushed by Skrtel, maybe that was why the liner was flagging, for a penalty to West Ham. Unfortunately for the Taylor he was demoted the next week. Not like Clattenberg that gave a penalty for a clear dive by Sturridge. Taylor was castigated in the RS dominated media whilst hardly a word was said about a FIFA ref getting such a decision so blatantly wrong. I wonder why Rodgers didn't mention that Taylor was from Wythenshawe Greater Manchester. Or maybe he talked behind closed doors to Riley about postcode refereeing?

The FA can't ignore such a statement so hopefully this rumbles on. If this happened in another country and a team got so many dubious decisions in their favour and a manager questioned the integrity of the refs supremo, some investigative journalist would probably be on to it to make a name for themselves. But in this country. Well.
As in the US, the main stream media in UK is bought and paid for. They are servile lackeys, sycophantic organs to 'the powers that be'. It's going to get worse folks. Western Civilisations flirtation with real democracy died on 22 Nov 1963.
