I wouldn't bet against it mate the double whammy of CL qualification AND being champions will have them pushing the boat out with the advantage of saying "we're back". Not only that but as City, Chelsea and to a lesser example Spurs have shown mega money isn't so destructive against "decent" money well spent.

Sturridge and Coutinho were really good buys and in the grand scheme of things reasonable money. Many of us (me included) may have misjudged Brenda.

Also where they need players is in the "two a penny" department of defenders - even Moyes could find defenders.

Until I see them collapsing in front of my own eyes I won't believe the devil will abandon them - can't stand them for getting me thinking this way.

Add to that the effects a world cup has on players.

rodgers has done a brilliant job to get that squad even top 4, nevermind winning the title, credit where it's due like. still don't think he's anything other than average though, hence why he's been sacked by reading and watford.

next season will be so intriguing though, any of the top 7 could win it based on chelsea and city's fragility this season to buckle under fairly small pressure.

Not for me mate. The only reason someone won it from the top 7 this year was that Liverpool were on a CL level of spending in the summer with already two world class players on board and had zero European responsibilities. They merely squeezed it with that too.

Imagine City had just the PL on the table this season? They'd have pissed it by February.

He also bought Allen, Alberto, Borini, Aspas, Ilori...there's almost £40million+ worth of spends there on fodder who would just about get into a Cardiff City side.

Sturridge and Coutinho, I'd give him that (although Coutinho is hit and miss). But Sturridge was no big secret. He'd have gone anywhere if someone would've paid his wages.

They'll spend big. The filler players he bought will get cast away (Borini has no chance of getting into the side still) and replaced.

I just don't think he'll buy anyone of quality to keep them in it.

Shearer on that pen: "he took his standing leg, no question about it. Al?"
Hansen: "stone wall pen."

FFS, what a pisstake. Altodore stuck his leg out a mile to get it on top of Azpilicuetas already planted leg and fell over it.

They are determined to see this travesty through to the bitter end.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

At least they had a detailed discussion of the Ramirez penalty incident. Best defending ever in the history of football (it would seem).

i like mourinho, NEA.

yes, his style may be a bore, but he's a natural born winner and most importantly he says what he wants. that's the way it should be. bollocks to all this getting fined for disputing a ref's performance whether it's right or wrong. they get paid so much a fine's not going to matter anyway.

but why should they get fined? why does football try and clamp down on freedom of speech? it's taking the fun and passion out the sport. it's bad enough we have this cheats always prosper society atm anyway!

bet sheerwood won't get fined for saying sandro's not good enough. why should it be different from criticizing a ref being poor at his job than a player???

I want to like him, and I can even tolerate his style of footie. However its never his or the clubs fault when the team doesn't perform and when that happens he's always a [Poor language removed]. Look at the crap he said after we beat him this year.

Liverpool have done well this season, no question. But even without less games to play they've needed a huge leg up in terms of decision making from officials, and that has been noted and must be addressed.

Unfortunately they are champions. We can only hope this season's refereeing performances are properly scrutinised as being pretty outrageous and it's never repeated again.
That's the thing though isn't it? Very few important people have stepped up and said the refs this season aren't at a high enough standard (or a media version of they've been crap). Everyone's falling in love with this "innovative and exciting team" led by a captain that has scored probably under 3 goals from open play this season. Yet somehow spraying 50 yard balls and scoring penalties puts you in consideration for the PFA Footballer of the Year. This team is just flat out not as good as it has been made to seem, but I guess the media has to do that because going the other way and calling them the worst champs in years doesn't fit The Narrative.

Now THAT sounds bitter.

It's sad to say but reading some of these comments it's no wonder they call us bitter, it's like 50 excuses why Liverpool are going to win the league. well if it was that easy any decent team that didn't bother with Europe and spent a bit of money would win it yet no one else ever has managed it.

The last thing I want is for them to win it but i'm not sad enough to trot out a lot of the crap above, soon we are going to add deluded to bitter the way this is playing out.

Why do you care so much what the Gobsh!tes think? They've spent years demonstrating that they are utterly hypocritical [Poor language removed] and now they're all over this board (and Redcafe and Bluemoon from what I've seen) wanting other fans to blow smoke up their arses. Well, feck em. They've got enough sycophants in the media to do that.

I will credit them with being the best team this season in terms of consistency (largely because City and Chelsea have been pathetically inept when they had it in their own hands), but you can't deny that EVERYTHING has gone in the RS' favour since Christmas, including some woeful refereeing performances.

The thought of GBH and Sewer Rat cavorting about with the Premier League trophy while the media jizzes all over them makes me feel sick. A lot of fans of other clubs will feel the same way, it's not unique to us blues.

I don't mind scouse kopites giving me a hard time as its how it is. They follow their local team and have been through a long period of being very meh so who can blame them getting excited about winning the title?

The out of towners can do one though, and look at them all crawling out of the woodwork now! Minty Crown Paints and Candy tops being searched for in lofts all the way from Tromso to Timbuktu.

Sometimes I feel guilty mate. I've never set foot in your fine town, yet I classify myself as much an Evertonian as anyone. When I read of Scouse Blues hanging it on the international bandwagoning kopites, I briefly question my own validity.

And then I check Twitter, and read umpteen blokes I've known for beards (nicking your lingo, NEA) hashtagging YNWA to oblivion, after never once showing interest in the round ball game and I realise the difference. I've stayed up until 3am to watch Anichebe play on the wing as we get done 2-1 at home to Bolton, only to get up at 430am two days later to see if we can turn it around.

In planning a European trip with the better half, I am far more concerned with locking in some time on Merseyside than I am Paris, Rome or Amsterdam.

There are a handful of RS fans here that are sound blokes and have followed them for a long time. But the country is in the midst of an epidemic, and it's sending me over the edge.

Which is why I need those Blue boys to do their stuff and make the rest of the world seem insignificant.

Thing is mate, the difference with out of town blues who support everton is that playing crap or great you know who they are, their proud of being a blue, and support us for the right reasons, fell in love with the club the ethos the history of the place from afar, with the rs, seriously 95% of those out of towners you only find out they support the rs when they hashtag themselves after a big win with YNWA JFT96 etc etc etc, last two years not a pipe for example, facebook now is spammed with the odious plebs

If you meet an overseas blue you can have a conversation about Tony Thomas, Paul Holmes, Billy Kenny and the like. Most overseas reds haven't heard of Jan Molby.

'Spent a bit of money': spent the third largest amount of cash in the last decade on accumulating a squad to go for the title.

That puts them way beyond being 'any other decent team spending a bit of money'.

Unreal.

Leaving out 'the excuses' of 12 pens etc etc here's an equation you might appreciate:

Massive number of games less than title rivals (11 less than Chelsea/14 less than City) + £200M net spend (3rd highest in the PL) + Ferguson retiring last season leaving a power vacuum in the game = Liverpool title win.
