It strikes me that Moyes doesn't know how to approach this job. He's forced to play 'The United way' - which is to say, Sir Alex's way. You can tell he's trying to suppress his naturally cautious approach - United fans, if nothing else, do recognise that he's throwing the kitchen sink at teams in an effort to get results. But it's just not coming off consistently enough.

United have lost four out of ten games at home. Three of those defeats have come in their last four home games.

It's very hard to spin that as showing any evidence that they will improve.

I don't think Moyes is capable of rising to this challenge - and I don't think United will finish in the top four. The competition is just too fierce. I curse fate we're showing such improvement in a season that Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, City and maybe even Spurs are all looking so good. United are lost in that mess, too.

He's working with some average players. He can't get them to be a tight unit and hard to beat because the United fans wouldn't like that, so he goes for broke. The only problem is that his tactic from what I've seen it "Give it to Rooney or RVP" and hope something happens.

He could easy make them like Chelsea - hard to beat, going for the 1-0 wins etc. Being tight.

But he's not, he's trying to run before he can walk. Which is expected with a job that high profile.

I dont think anyone is looking that good out of the usual suspects for top four...that's why the competition is so 'fierce' as you put it.

Apart from City and Chelsea one and two, it's anyone's guess how the others sort themselves out all the way down to 7th. United have pedigree though, and despite Moyes they'll find the personnel and the goals to make one of the other two CL places. If they dont I can see Moyes sacked.

United have been turd to watch for a couple of seasons now, I'd say they would be used to it.

They're in trouble. It all depends who they bully in January.

Plus teams like Everton shrugging them off.

If they don't get CL then their attraction diminishes. This makes them struggle more and makes it harder to try and bully teams like Everton.

They will still have some pull domestically, which is why I said in the barkley thread that I wouldn't be surprised if they make a massive bid for him this month or in the summer as they know that a kok/gundogan/fabregas would never go there, esp without CL football

I'm not a betting man but I wish I'd put a fiver on them getting top 4 when they were at their lowest a few weeks ago. I can see them doing it.

Odds would prob be the same back then tbh, they would of been expected to win those games, even today's you would of put them down for 3 points.

Which is what I don't get when their bulb fans say Moyes' is turning them into Everton.

If United were Everton, they wouldnt be leaking goals left right and centre.

He ****ing is, you're not wrong. That negative way of thinking he has is rubbing off over there now. Already has some shocking results against the top sides. We went without an away win against the so called top 4 for over 10 years. He won't be given that long there but he is doing the same at utd in the respect that he goes into each game with the mindset of ' just dont lose'.

He's got one more point after 20 games than he did last season

Nah. They still went for the "we'll score more than you" tactic.

The only reason why Jose is getting away with it at Chelsea is because he's Jose. Moyes could never do that at United

From what I've seen, that's not what happening. If he did, they wouldn't lose as many games IMO or concede as many goals. They've conceded 24 goals. We've conceded 19 with "Moyes" defence and a more attacking manager.
