Am I missing something with people suggesting Sarri might get sacked?
Chelsea are already in 1 final, still in the FA Cup, still in The Europa, a point off 4th, I know Romans a bit mad and their recent results arent great but not that bad really.
On past form, domestic cups mean little or nothing at Chelsea, the FA cup hardly delayed Conté's exit after successfully winning the title the year before. By the same token they also perceive the Europa to be of very limited value too.
The domestic cups are seen very much as a bonus to them, something they do go after and its nice to win but ultimately not up to much when it comes to evaluating the managers performance.
Its the league and Champions League (doesn't apply this year) that really matter, their performance in the major competitions, and so for Sarri that means the league.
Considering Conté finished fifth last season - although they did win have the consolation of an FA cup win - it was seen as a real failure and they brought in Sarri to improve things.
He inherited almost all the players who had won the title just two years ago but has struggled to make any progress at all. Jorghino who he bases most of his system around has been found out by most opponents and Kante has been pushed into his new perhaps alien attacking mid role.
Conte won the league with substandard strikers in Morata and Giroud, although the Frenchman is far from useless and good by prem standards, Sarri was expected to do a lot better and be closer to the top, not threaten even worse.
The most galling thing is that recently they've lost something they always prized, that of being hard to beat and were hammered by Bournemouth 4-0.
The levels of dissatisfaction are growing and the mumbles of discontent deafening
Abramovic sacks title winners or champions league winners after failing to repeat it the year after but is extremely ruthless with those who threaten neither
Villas-Boas and Scolari were both shown the door in their first season when both were higher up the league than Sarri.
Abramovic isn't renowned for his remarkable patience, Sarri is clinging on by his fingertips.... but for how much longer?
