Hart didn't shift himself much to get his clearance away. I thought Smalling just stood his ground and then half turned away as Hart finally did clear it downfield.

You can't just stand there and then block him kicking it! It's ridiculous by Smalling

Maybe so. I tell you what though: if the offences were the other way around and the lunge on Milner came first, there's no way that ref would have produced a second card for what Smalling did standing in front of Hart clearing the ball.

So he has to jump out of the way so he can take the kick?

He was standing his ground. So Hart knew what he was doing and decided to take his kick at Smalling, to get him booked. Thats what you're saying really. Big area that box, he could of stopped and taken it elsewhere. Smalling stood there then turned his back.
