You're spot on.

Like i said, it's pretty much impossible to accurately judge if someone is offside or not in cases like this.

But it's incredibly easy to say "oh he should have got it right". As i'm sure some idiot like Alan Shearer or Danny Murphy will tonight.

Half the time they actually say how difficult it is but still say they should get it right regardless. It's stupid but typical of people in football.

It's like going to Stephen Hawking, asking him what 1647843834983456 X 23641641 / 43567198288 +1 is , giving him less than a second to answer and calling him crap when he doesn't know it. Then saying he should have got it right.

Ant not allowing him to use the calculator by his side that would have given the correct answer.

well i mean stephen hawking would find it hard to input all those numbers into a calculater within a second because ... you know...

...even a fully abled bodied person couldn't.

but i get your point :)

at the end of the day as me and @Seamus Colemole are saying - the linesmen don't get to see it in paused view like it's shown on TV, so why even analyse it that way? why use slow motion cameras to determine red cards? the refs don't get that pleasure. if they won't bring in TV replays for the benefit of the game - how can you justify using them for analysis?

I don't really have a problem with that, if TV companies have the ability to do so and see if the decision was right or wrong than they might as well.

It's just the ridiculous over the top complaining about officials decisions with the benefit of those replays that annoys me. The ridiculous expectation that a human being should be able to somehow see differences of mere millimetres in a split second and make an accurate decision.

If that lino today had kept his flag down people would be saying what a great decision it was and how well he'd done. When he'd have been guessing exactly the same as he did when he raised his flag.

You could see he was onside watching live on the main television angle, or at least I could anyway.

hull and burnely both battered their opposition it seems and one got the breaks and the other didn't. hull scored and burnley didn't which was the main difference away from the breaks i must add.

just seen the benteke goal and i can see why sherwood has said "i could see it was onside from where i was standing"

course you could tim, course you could.

Thats why when people have discussed using technology during games and giving managers "challenges" that if they are proven to be wrong in their challenge they should have to concede a penalty of go down to 10 men the rest of the game or a similar severe punishment.

Cause apparently they can see offside decisions from the half way line, if Sherwood was so convinced today that Benteke was onside he'd have had no problem risking it would he?

Yeah right!
