Today’s Football 25/26 Season

Id scrap VAR today but the ref give it. It wasn't a clear and obvious error so VAR shouldn't get involved. Appreciate that's not the reality of how it's used though.

You're suggesting I'd have a different view if it was Everton?

You have a bias view, as you support Palace. I dont. Id rather Palace won this.

If it was Everton I'd be annoyed with Pickford for a ridiculous mistake.

Can't argue with you're answer I said the same earlier in the Hibs vs Celtic var incident. Thought the keeper was unlucky and it was a soft pen though.

Consider all the nonsense that goes on at a typical Premier League corner and something like this occurs in the same area, a penalty given and backed up by slow motion replay.
HOW on earth was that awarded and verified, please explain.

It’s just said on comms that Bournemouth haven’t won an home game since 24th of January. Yet they are 6th in the league currently. Shows how poor the premier league really is
could be a fixture issue, lets say beat wolves on jan 24th, then had fa cup games which don't count and say arsenal, man city, villa, man utd as their home league game run with the majority aways.
The league has produced a CL semifinalist, an all PL semi final in the uefa, and a semi finalist in the fairs cup thing.

I don't think people realise how monumentally crap officials are these days if we scrapped VAR
They are even worse when sitting in a room with numerous angles watching it over and over again.

But yeah i agree they are absolutely useless

Nah the level of mistakes every week would be unreal. The standard of officiating, now that they all get outside/digital help, is extremely bad. They've been slacking off ever since it came in.

It's like using AI in your job for a few years and then suddenly having it banned.

Not for me. I cba even celebrating Everton goals anymore until its cleared.

Do you go to the match? Takes away so much from it.

Its harder to take as well when VAR is so selectively/inconsistently used.

The execution of VAR kills it, IMO

That's what I mean, these guys are going to the screen to rewatch incidents and STILL getting it wrong.

Imagine how many things they'd get wrong if they didn't have the backup insurance of having another look.

Its the way they need 20 replays on extra slow motion as well.

For what is meant to be rectifying "clear and obvious" errors.

If it was clear and obvious you don't need slow motion or 20 replays.

I absolutely detest VAR, that's not the point I'm making, I just don't think people understand how bad it would be without it (until refs are trained up again).

Imagine?

We dont have to, VAR is relatively new and there's leagues without it. The championship just voted against it and rightly so.

VAR benefits the top teams.

Yeh but officials in leagues without it are used to not having it - ours have coasted by for years with it now.

You'd have to swap the officials round. They are SO bad.

I remember football before VAR and watch a fair bit of championship.

Im not convinced it reduces errors and even if did Iand by some margin I'd sooner leg it.

Its takes so much away from the game.
