Today’s Football 25/26 Season

when ashley young got a penalty against man utd and it got overturned they said "the contact from the defenders doesn't match the exaggerated fall from the attacker'.

i've never seen a more exaggerated fall than what senesi just did there
They basically looked at the wrong thing to think that, not the replay from behind the goal on the actual foul that occurred

There was a shout Wet Ham had yesterday that wasn't given because the contact was 'incidental'. Far more contact than that.

There's an argument and a counter argument for every refereeing decision now. Literally just based on the whimsical of referees rather than any adherence to the laws.

Agree mate, the fall/antics shouldn't really matter. Was a joke when they ruled it out against Young because of it.

and the neglible contact and the delay before he fell.
Laughable decision.
Think it’s one that was always going to go with the refs initial call. Should it have been called on the field? Maybe not. But it’s still on Henderson for dropping the ball, and for palace just not turning up at all regardless.

Well, that's what I meant by dramatic fall.

'Keeper at fault, there was contact as a consequence of the 'keepers mistake.

Pen all day.
The contact was made by the attacking player. It's a nonsense penalty. Keeper dropped the ball, went to retrieve it, attacker instigated contact and dived theatrically.
If Everton got a similar one given against them I'm sure you'd be equally certain.

Never a pen for me the player went down in instalments, in fact he could have got a full series out of that. Var fails again, honestly if I could I would scrap it tomorrow.

Id scrap VAR today but the ref give it. It wasn't a clear and obvious error so VAR shouldn't get involved. Appreciate that's not the reality of how it's used though.

You'd be just as certain if the oppo got a similar one at Everton I'm sure.

You're suggesting I'd have a different view if it was Everton?

You have a bias view, as you support Palace. I dont. Id rather Palace won this.

If it was Everton I'd be annoyed with Pickford for a ridiculous mistake.

It’s just said on comms that Bournemouth haven’t won an home game since 24th of January. Yet they are 6th in the league currently. Shows how poor the premier league really is

Plenty of Evertonians on here with a view that the penalty was a nonsense.

It wasn't me alleging bias/favouritism. That was you.

Football is opinions. Mine, and others are it was a pen. Others, like you as a Crystal Palace fan didn't think so.

Suggesting bias/integrity is odd given that's your position.

Players can exaggerate/dive and it can still be a foul/penalty. The Ashey Young vs Man Utd is a good example.

Anyway, the ref give a pen. VAR looked at is and didn't think it was a mistake.
