I find it highly amusing that the three lions badge of England was the personal sigil of the Norman French Plantegenets who themselves were direct descendants of William the [Poor language removed] who conquered and oppressed the English. Furthermore the King who made it a national symbol was Richard 1st , a ruler who despised England , spent the vast majority of his life abroad, couldn't speak a word of English and was guilty of major war atrocities while waging gratuitous war in the Middle East.
