To echo Mourinho's words....

We don't bully the refs like all the teams above us do. Haven't done it for years.

Too nice. Osman shouldve been up as with all the players chomping the refs face off.

Kinda summed up the day when everyone's head went down.
I agree, but knowing our luck it would have led to Osman getting shown second yellows for dissent.

Quite sure we got a pen last week after Clatt missed the first pen too, so again proof it evens out.

Thank you. He was. And the ball was going out of play. I'd have been fuming if that pen was given against us. We lost because S'ton played really well and we couldn't break them down. We were unlucky at times. If the cross into Lukaku just before HT was 6 inches lower then he scores. If his header in the 2nd half is anywhere else, then he scores. If that offside decision was not made then Gerry may have scored (although maybe not). We just need to try and win out next 2 games and get 75 points.

Unthinkably, we need a title-handing liverpool win today

Yeah, but it's still a peno. Player slides, misses the ball, hits the player. Can argue that he was falling, he played for it etc. But fact remains that it was a foul as the defender tackled the player and didn't touch the ball.

As pointed out, the [Poor language removed] have had about 4 of those where it's been debatable that there was any contact. At least there was contact against Osman.

Defo two pens yesterday and to get none Is just crazy these refs are doing what they feel like and not abiding by the rules.

This "these things even themselves out" lark is the biggest myth in football propagated by the media.

Here's a thing, it doesn't. Obviously any decision is open to interpretation but whenever anyone has gone back and reviewed these things for all 380 matches in a season (no doubt using some flaw in their interpretations), it still always seems to come out to favour the "bigger" media teams in terms of decisions they were lucky to have got / got away with, however you want to analyse it.

All of the websites that used to run these sorts of analyses all had their flaws - but their conclusions were always the same, with the same beneficiaries.

The yellows for diving make me uberfume. Rip us off but then to punish us for a refs stupidity is crazy

Referee gave us a yellow to say "no, it was a dive, I'm giving him a yellow card, see? I'm not making the wrong decision!"

Pathetic, really. He knew he screwed up and had to cover his ass.

As an aside, since the 2002 season, we're broadly even with 43 pens for and 41 against. In the same timeframe, Liverpool have had 73 for and just 44 against.

It's a bit rum for Mourinho to moan though as Chelsea have far and away the best for/against record in that time, with 71 for and just 31 against.

Here's the problem with these stats mate and this whole shout in general. The teams at the top of the league generally get more penalties because they have the ball in their opponents box more. I think if you divided the time spent in the opposition box by the number of pentalties over the last 5 years it would paint a much truer story.

But Liverpool haven't been at the top in that time, they've been largely crap
