To echo Mourinho's words....

Nil Satis ‘n’ all that
After yesterday's disappointing defeat I would also like to thank the referees this season, as Mr Mourinho did recently, but in the knowledge of knowing that the FA can't fine me!

Two clear penalties yesterday both turned down....could have got us at least a point. Free kick gifted by a referee to Chelsea for their late winner (another point lost). Liverpool's late free kick at Goodison being allowed to be taken fifteen yards from where the foul was committed (2 more points dropped).

Cost us CL football by the looks of it.

Perhaps I'm just grouchy this morning though...I guess these decisions often balance themselves over a season but at the moment I can only think of the ones that cost us dear.

It has not balanced itself out. That is not me being biased, it's a fact. We've had so few penalties (twice as many against us) and for a team that is near the top end that's just a strange statistic, as we dominate the ball and spend more time in the opposition's area. I can recall a ridiculous amount of stonewallers not given, the worst being Medel's foul on Baines in the 0-0 to Cardiff, robbing us of 3 points.

That osman thing yesterday was ludicrous, I think the ref had been watching motd and made a decision off that rather than the incident.

In all honesty, yesterday and Cardiff away I really can't remember any dubious pens we've had turned down.

We've had 3 penalties for us this season, and 6 against. No clues for who is top of the table. They've had 12 penalties for them this season, and just 4 against.

Chelsea haven't done bad like, as they're in 2nd place with 7 for and just 1 against, but the last time 1st was so far ahead of 2nd was when AJ was earning so many pens for Palace.

Mirallas should have been sent off in that game.

As an aside, since the 2002 season, we're broadly even with 43 pens for and 41 against. In the same timeframe, Liverpool have had 73 for and just 44 against.

It's a bit rum for Mourinho to moan though as Chelsea have far and away the best for/against record in that time, with 71 for and just 31 against.

Wasn't there one against man city away and then they got a penalty for exactly the same thing like 10 mins later?

First one on Osman was 75/25, in that the player has come in and made contact with the player, but Osman was on his way over to begin with (looked to be ready to slide on his knees before contact). That said, it doesn't actually matter because what way the player goes past the opponent is irrelevant if the contact prevents him from progressing to the ball. He's made the most of it, but there definitely is contact and it should have been a penalty, but I can see why it wasn't given.

The second one on McCarthy was such a penalty that it's unreal it wasn't given. Defender left stranded on his arse, arm across his chest to pull him back to prevent him getting up to the ball. It was crazy.
