To cheat or not to cheat?

Player Valuation: £40m
I don't want to turn this into a thread concerning how deluded and retarded kopites are but:

Was just speaking to a good friend of mine regarding Suarez. I said to him that it was such a shame that Suarez is a cheat because the quality he possesses is just unbelievable.

My friends response was, 'I would cheat every time if it meant winning'.

Needless to say that, even from a RS, I was flummoxed by this.

Question to you all my fellow blues is, would you sacrifice the image of the club to win games? Would you be happy with a player who cheats as long as he contributes to wins and points?

Someone who cheats or dives or whatever in a blue shirt will be told and will not be accepted here at Everton

Yes is my answer.

Why? Because it doesn't really harm your image. Look at the top sides. None of them are tainted by it, yet they all do it habitually.

The best player in the world, ronaldo, is a bad, bad cheat.

We're putting ourselves at a massive disadvantage by trying to be a moral guardian of the game and I've never really seen it mentioned in the press or see anyone in authority mention how others should follow suit.

BTW, about them, Suarez as good as he is, wouldn't be half the player if he didn't cheat, dive, screech like a girl and roll all over the show feigning injury.

CB's can never go into a tackle wholeheartedly or commit to a 50/50 or even go to ground with him, all because they know he'll con the ref. If he was an honest player he wouldn't do anywhere near as much damage.

What image is that? The image we give ourselves or that which others have of us or that which the stats say?

Some were not happy learning that our club hosts the joint-most booked divers so far this season, neg-reps were dished out, blues were called kopites, it got ugly.

Truth is we do try to cheat, only we're mostly clumsy at it, and don't try it on as much as the other teams. I'd rather we not get good at cheating, myself. I'd also rather we don't get bought out by some random chicken Sheikh or capitalist American, which I find is another form of cheating.

That's the scary thing to me.
it's quite obvious that we wouldn't tolerate it, but over the park they blindly defend such because they think that with the element of cheating they may be more successful.

the two clubs are miles apart, there's no point in comparing.

if a player dived to win us the league we would berate them, but would remember the league win and celebrate it to the hilt. it would be a bit odd, but i guarantee we would have been cheated out of points earlier in the season ourselves.

Look at Gerard Deulofeu yesterday, I thought it was great that he didn't go down when touched around and in the box. He wanted to play football and drive on - football over gamesmanship. The problem is that due to poor refereeing and FA sanctions it has been not only tolerated but encouraged.

Really not happy seeing those in blue shirts trying it on. It is cheating.

said this in another thread yesterday. that useless prick should have given a pen after the save was made, they encourage diving, they are ruining the game as much as those higher up. they have the authority to, they're in charge ffs. same with coleman vs spurs, cheats are prospering in football, the nice honest guys are being left behind. it is ****ing annoying and the refs should take most of the flack and grow a back bone.

Not at Goodison.

I don't agree.

There has been plenty of gamesmanship at Goodison over the years, and I don't remember there being much uproar about it. I have never heard anyone have any misgivings over Anders Limpar's dive against Wimbledon in 1994. Nobody gave a ****. Nobody was arsed about the fact that Bolton had a perfectly good goal disallowed at the Reebok in 1998 either. Our players weren't like "No ref, it went in, award them the goal as it crossed the line". There will have been plenty of other examples that I can't remember as well.

All this rainbow warrior stuff is a combination of Moyes' indoctrinating Evertonians with his bible bashing ethos, a defence mechanism for not being successful, and wanting to disassociate ourselves with the RS' successful implementation of gamesmanship over the years.
